What do you do if you want to transition into a leadership role as a database developer?
Start by assuming you have a good skill set but that you don't necessarily have a skill set that is right for management. The old saying, "What got you here isn't enough to get you where you're going" is accurate. Use the internet, a mentor, blogs, courses, etc. - learn about the set of skills (and problems!) managers face BEFORE jumping in to try your luck. It's all about self-awareness and communication skills combined with knowledge of team dynamics. These are skills you can learn - but start learning what they are before you make the jump to reduce the stress of your new leaning curve :)

Here's how you can effectively manage conflicts between employees and supervisors as an HR manager.
I like this - mediate, not mandate! HR is about helping, adding value, and facilitating. The need to get "formal" and negative about possible consequences due to conflict is real, but often chosen too quickly. The place to start that helps HR look like a great resource is to talk to them, help them start talking more professionally, encourage them to resolve the matter themselves, direct them to people or resources that might help, etc. With repeated efforts of this nature, you'll usually see success, and if needed, you can always go formal with documentation or other possible consequences appropriate for the behavior in questions - but don't start there! :)

Your startup team is divided on a decision. How will you unite them to achieve a common goal?
You don't want to dictate and you don't want a never ending decision process, so, a great approach when consensus is difficult is a decision making rule that has been agreed to earlier for use in situations like this. My favorite is the 70% rule. This means that we value progress and consensus, but pure consensus is not always easy or possible - and that is normal and okay. So... people must agree in good faith that if they are at least 70% in agreement with the prevailing option, they will 1) support the decision in the meeting, and 2) be an advocate not a challenger with others after the meeting to ensure decision success. You can't use rules like this too often, but in a pinch they can be terribly useful.

What are the best ways to end a Q&A session?
If you are using a Q&A, two things must be true. 1 - you're good at extemporaneous speech. You can't just say what's already been said. It must be more personal and tailored - on the fly. 2 - you must follow Laura Bergells advice and end the Q&A with a statement. You get the last word to make one final memory (what happens last is often stuck in their memory the most) - so be clear (3 ideas max), very brief, and full of positive emotion!
