“Over the last three years, it has been a pleasure to work with and for Dr. Howard as he has served as President of Hampden-Sydney College. Dr. Howard has been a very positive force for Hampden-Sydney. His term has seen a new sense of excitement and improvement. He's been very committed to finding areas which could stand improvement, refinement, and support and then working to make sure efforts to address them are supported and implemented effectively. From starting efforts like the President’s Leadership Council and the Technology Advisory Committee, to leading the college when quick action needs to be taken, Dr. Howard has been a very effective leader. In everything he does at H-SC, he inspires a culture of Ubuntu, understanding, and Brotherhood. And this is not just talk, it's action. Dr. Howard eats in the dining hall with diverse groups of students. He takes the time to get to know dozens of students on a personal one-to-one level. He helps student when they need guidance, direction, or just to know when someone is there to support them. Many of my fellow students and alumni always comment about how accessible, friendly, and helpful he is. Now an alumni, I will miss being part of a community led by Chris Howard.”
