“Diana Alsindy worked for me at Space Micro as a Mission Assurance Engineer Intern from September 2016 to May 2017. Her quality assurance/process assurance engineer tasks addressed detailed, cross-functional, and business wide process maintenance and improvement - in an aerospace company that provides transmitters, transponders, avionics boxes, image processing computers, star trackers and star cameras to the prime aerospace contractors, NASA, and the DoD. Her tasks included: - Particulate contamination testing in clean rooms to ISO standards - Electro-Static Discharge (ESD) testing of floors, mats, wrist straps, gowns, etc., in multiple labs and clean rooms - Documenting, trending, and reporting on ESD and clean room conditions - Auditing flight printed circuit board assembly kits, ensuring lot/date code traceability of EEE parts - GIDEP Alert management - Asset tracking - Tracking and processing “calibration-due” equipment to/from the calibration house - Providing support for inspection processes at the direction of a Senior Inspector - Providing to the Mission Assurance Manager as directed These tasks were conducted on behalf of projects such as: the Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) TESS Transmitter, the GSFC TESS Data Handling Unit, and the Lockheed Martin WASP Advance Image Processer. Diana further distinguished herself through the identification, categorization, and safe storage of all chemicals on site, then working with quotes and proposals for the safe disposal of hazardous wastes from the facility. She always implemented her tasks in a collegial and professional manner. I could always count on her to get the job done. Her abilities and her friendly approach to people always helped overcome the many “people” issues that occur where schedules must be kept, and engineers, technicians, and project managers must team up to complete a task. Diana is a hard worker and always diligent on the job. ”

•Utilizes Solid Works to design the Cubesat engine based on NASA's specific guidelines. This engine would provide high thrust because of its shorter transition periods between lunar orbits. Attempting to prove that the complex geometrical passages in the injector plate that 3D printing provides will allow us to print amore efficient engine.

The Vulcan-1 rocket will be one of the first launch vehicles to be powered by a 3D printed rocket engine. The team plans to test 2 interchangeable injector plates with a printed thrust chamber. The most efficient injector will be strapped to the Vulcan-1 sounding rocket and flown in the International Experimental Sounding Rocket Competition in Green River, Utah.
SEDS@UCSD raised a successful $22,000 Kickstarter Campaign for the Vulcan I: Rocket Powered by 3D Printed Engine. We created media coverage from ABC10, Engineering.com, Prototype Today, ect. to spread the campaign's reach.
