“I have the privilege of teaching at Tufts where I have been a Professor of the Practice for ten years and teach a marketing course within Entrepreneurial Leadership Studies. I also teach business planning and marketing at MIT where I have lectured for 20 years At Tufts, the 13-week semester is taught around my concept of “Content in Context”, which allows me to pass on marketing and sales content to our students within the context of real companies who have come to us to supply them with market research and complete marketing plans for their company or the launch of a new product. The projects are team-based with four to six students who work during the semester as Student-Consultants with an end-of-semester marketing plan that is delivered to the senior management of the company and is 50% graded by me and 50% by management. Dan was a student in this class in the fall, 2017 semester and did exceptionally well working on a complex project for Milhench Supply Company. As a class, we had the privilege of being asked by the Milhench CEO to create a complete marketing plan with detailed digital marketing recommendations to be incorporated during 2018. In the words of the CEO, the team did an exceptional job providing not only a strong marketing plan, but highly useful tactical recommendations that they will use in their 2018 plans. We are currently assessing potential internships among the team members. Dan is a strong tech entrepreneur, in his own right, and as such, he was an attentive contributor and a very direct communicator. During class, Dan was attentive, participative and very thoughtful. I great enjoyed his point of view. As an aside, my “Science of Sales” course will work with Dan on producing a detailed sales plan for his exciting startup, whose progress I have followed for the past two years.
