A Star Wars-themed fundraiser I created when I worked for NextGear Capital in 2015 led to the creation of this family-friendly community event in 2016 to support the STEM organization TechPoint Foundation For Youth (TPF4Y). I co-led this "May the 4th Be With You" Star Wars fundraising event (with approval from Disney) with the TPF4Y team for the three years that we ran it. This helped them gain more exposure in the community resulting in more participation in their events, grants/funding, and the ability to host larger fundraisers.
    ● Served on the planning committee and assisted with all aspects of the event including coaching the TPF4Y staff on fundraising best practices, brainstorming engaging entertainment for attendees, securing donations, finding volunteers, logistics, advertising, setup, volunteering at the event, tear down, and filling gaps wherever needed.
    ● The final event in 2018 resulted in TPF4Y's largest single-day fundraiser (at the time) resulting in almost $10k
    ● Leveraged my network to secure entertainment such as the Indy Lightsaber Academy, 501st Legion, and board game demos from Family Time Games
    ● Ran the logistics of the costume contest in 2018 and served as a judge
    ● In-kind donation highlights included the dessert bar sponsored by Little Debbie and beer from Sun King Brewing

For the second year in a row, I was selected to participate in the Good Design Challenge by OfficeWorks, this time against 15 design firms. The 2017 theme was "Once Upon a Time" and I created a Little Red Riding Hood chair using a Herman Miller Eames Rocking Chair as my canvas.

The entire story was shown using pages from a vintage Little Golden Book. I created a Big Bad Wolf-themed seat cushion, and I hand-designed and sewed a red cape. I also assembled a basket of goodies for "grandma"…

Although I did not receive an award, my chair was auctioned off and the proceeds once again supported the St. Vincent House.

I was hand-selected to participate in a "chair-ity" fundraiser against 14 design firms where we were given a Herman Miller Eames chair and challenged with creating a "Hoosier Hospitality" theme using the chair as our canvas. I exclusively used paper for my design and spent over 40 hours planning, cutting paper by hand, and strategically gluing it to the chair. I designed a scene that shifted from spring to winter, inserting native flora and birds of Indiana, and featured a large sycamore tree…

My chair was auctioned off at the event and received the most bids. All proceeds supported the St. Vincent House, an organization that houses financially strained families of patients who come from a long distance to receive care at St. Vincent Hospital.

I handmade no-sew blankets that were distributed to various organizations who then handed them out to children who survived extreme situations (such as fires and hurricanes) to provide comfort in times of distress.
    ● Organized and led over a dozen Blanketeering group volunteer events
    ● Sewed Project Linus-branded tags to the corners of blankets other volunteers created

A personal blog I wrote about why I support breast cancer research that I posted to the company's intranet. The Marketing team asked if they could publish it on NextGear Capital's website. It has since been removed, so the link is an archived version and the formatting is a little messed up.

"Daisy comes in early and stays late almost every single day. She is more than committed to not only our team but others as well. She's always more than happy to help anyone with anything. She is a great role model, team member, and manager. She delegates tasks well, and although she has more than she would like to admit on her plate she is always enthusiastic to completely drop what she is doing to help someone else out. She is our team's cheerleader, organizer, and mascot. She leads surrounding team members and is always eager to jump in on a new project that isn't necessarily in her field. Since I have been a team member, she has always been my go-to when I come to a fork in the road and I need assistance. Her resourcefulness to overcome obstacles is admirable. She understands Community Relations takes devotion, and she has done just that - devoted herself completely and selflessly to every project we undertake. The CR team greatly appreciates her efforts, and believes she deserves to be recognized."
