Reassure them that they're in a safe space to give feedback. And remind them that their feedback is crucial to the overall performance of the company. Immediate feedback allows us to know how to do things better and takes the pressure off our brain attempting to do it on its own.

Active listening is the art of engaged presence. it's listening with genuine curiosity but without judgment or attachment to the outcome. No daydreaming. No thinking about whatever smart thing you're going to say next. Patience is key. Genuine relating means listening until the other is done and asking only clarifying questions along the way.

Pause for a breath before you speak, act, or react, especially in situations of high emotions. In that pause, get clear on your motives. Ask yourself why you're about to say what you're about to say. Then evaluate your response. Be accountable for your flaws, monitor and overwrite negative self-talk, and widen your emotional vocabulary.

"Clear goals" is a flow trigger in peak performance that helps tell us exactly what we're doing. "Immediate feedback" tells us how to do it better. This is exactly what's occurring or attempting to occur when a team member does this. If it's something worth implementing, showing consistency with the improvement will show their opinion is valued and appreciated.

Everyone isn't suppose to get your personal brand. Think of your favorite business brand. If it's loved by a great mass of people, then it's also hated by an equal or greater amount of people. If we aim to be everything to everybody we end up a nobody. We have to take a stance that just happens to powerfully opposed our competition, then stick to it.

It's called branding, not blending. There has to be something about you that stands out. A pop of color, a provocative phrase, something that catches and keeps someone attention.
