What are some effective ways to prepare for behavioral interview questions?
The above are absolutely on point and necessary to prepare for a behavioral interview. However, I believe the game-changing way to prepare for a behavioral interview is to 1) thoroughly research the company and 2) ask questions about company culture and how they respond to or behaved in challenging scenarios. This makes this opportunity just as much an interview to see if the company is a good fit for you. Also, as someone who has conducted these type interviews, I’d be amazed at your ability to conduct thorough research (problem identification/solving)and to ask tough questions (confidence/courage/innovator). I’m looking for change makers and innovators. People not afraid to do challenging work and to make a difference.

How can you stay focused on your goals when things get tough?
I believe the first step is take a step back and really ask yourself a few questions: 1) who do you want to be? 2) who are you for?, 3) what am I doing about it? If you desire to be someone of great impact then your mindset has to shift from fixed to growth mindset. Meaning, you realize that tough times don’t last, tough people do. If you truly want to serve others at a capacity that positively impacts change, you have to be able to ask the hard questions to isolate the issue and then pursue the appropriate solution relentlessly. Change is birthed out of struggle, pain, challenge. Therefore, to remain focused on your goals even in tough times you need: develop a growth mindset and show up as the change maker and serve with great purpose.

What are the best ways to build self-confidence in clients after setbacks?
Building self-confidence requires three things: 1) positive mindset 2) the will to learn & improve and 3) take action to improve. So the best way to build self-confidence after a setback is to 1) see the setback as an opportunity, so that even if you lose, you don’t lose the lesson, 2) the will to seek feedback, challenge your own thinking and behavior, and 3) take action by making the necessary adjustments to improve.

How can you balance leadership and self-care?
👀Early in my career I was apart of an employee development program. One of the assignments in this program was to give presentations to our senior and executive leaders about various topics. I chose the topic of leadership. I started the presentation with this questions: When does a leader become a leader? I began writing my presentation from the stance of becoming a leader. The more I wrote, the more I realized that I was already a leader. You don’t become a leader when you get a leadership title or direct reports. You become a leader the day you decide that your choices will reflect your desire to become the best version of yourself and inspire others to do the same. Leadership of self will always precede your ability to lead others.
