This is an article about the Mountain Dew rebrand) This is a really interesting shift from ENERGY to AUTHENTICITY - makes me believe that consumers are becoming fatigued by overstimulation and craving simplicity authenticity, a sense of grounding in a very fast paced, uncertain world… people are moving away from virtual intensity and towards real world experiences and nostalgia which is what may ultimately counter balance some of the fears around AI. This rebrand (for me) signals an evolving consumer psyche where trust, heritage, and even nature are becoming new forms of currency in brand equity. Perhaps more brands should be betting that the future of loyalty lies not in how extreme or high energy you can be, but in how genuinely you can reconnect to your values and resonate with where consumers want to go next…

I don't have the aesthetics conversation as much anymore with clients, but I do on the impact side. Meaning, design isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s a powerful strategic asset that can propel business growth and foster innovation. Throughout my career, I’ve seen firsthand how design and design thinking can transform organizations. I see it most initially in these two areas: 🔍 #1: Empathize with Your Users - Understanding your customers' needs and pain points is crucial. In one campaign, I conducted extensive field research to grasp the challenges faced by the target community. This empathy-driven approach allowed me to "see" the challenge more clearly and helped me create a more impactful campaign, raising awareness and support effectively. 💡 #2: Foster Collaboration - Innovation thrives in a collaborative environment. I believe in the power of diverse perspectives. Whether it's brainstorming sessions or workshops, fostering a culture of collaboration leads to creative solutions that drive business success. Context is key. Knowing your customers' pains and gains is critical. The current discourse around tech killing creative jobs and the love and respect creatives have for some of the best-loved symbols of creativity matter. And make this new ad from Apple tone deaf. Judging by the response from their customers and the lashing on social media, I am not alone in this assessment. Ouch.
