We are proud to partner with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) on the Near-Earth Object Surveyor (NEO Surveyor) mission, a groundbreaking effort to protect our planet from potentially hazardous asteroids and comets. Scheduled for launch in 2027, this infrared space telescope is designed to detect and track asteroids that other missions might miss—especially those too dark or too small to be seen by traditional optical telescopes. Our team at BAE Systems plays a vital role in developing key spacecraft systems, including thermal and cryogenic components, which ensure the telescope operates with the precision needed to track even the most elusive NEOs. As we continue to work with JPL, our focus is on advancing planetary defense, and ensuring NEO Surveyor will significantly enhance humanity's ability to detect and study these space objects.
