Mark Twain said, "History doesn't repeat itself, but it often rhymes." Phil Kelley's announcement this week that after more than 27 years he will be leaving Crown Castle, a company that he joined "for the intriguing business model...." That made me reflect on the history of one then-emerging infrastructure industry and the nascence of a now-emerging industry. Before Exelon, before Quanta Services, Inc., before InfraSource, A Quanta Services Company and even before I became aware of CCI my company was invited by Dominic Villecco at V-COMM, LLC to join a team orchestrated by Anthony De Vito, CEM at PPL Corporation to rollout a network of cellular sites for market launch of a PCS D, E, F licensee in rural Pennsylvania, Conestoga Wireless now T-Mobile. Exciting stuff. Especially since we were trying something new: Installing equipment on single carrier, direct embedded wood poles in the PPL Right Of Way to accelerate the bulk of the launch build (that's distribution poles). In 2001 Conestoga sold its traditional monopole and lattice towers, along with the attachment rights to those distribution poles to Mountain Union Telecom. And five years after that, MUT sold 468 towers to CCI. So that's the Phil Kelley Crown Castle connection, but how's that history rhyme with anything? At the time I asked what kinda multiple single carrier poles would bring to the the deal. Expensive (and very, very painful) to redevelop as multi-carrier sites. I knew; by then we were doing that on PECO right of way custom built for AT&T. But on the same day as Phil's announcement posted on LinkedIn I was discussing dealflow with a key partner in the Charging Management Systems network space. We were discussing the relative value (to anyone other than the fleet owner) of dedicated fleet #evcharging infrastructure. Hmmm, I thought, this sounds vaguely familiar. https://lnkd.in/evVVu3uk

The details really matter. While the hospital price transparency rule went into effect over 3 years ago, CMS is only now tightening up rules around a template for the machine readable data file for all hospitals. Before now hospitals used their best efforts to produce and publish data files, but because there was not a standard data format, it took a lot of cleaning and manipulating to get usable data to compare across hospitals. Hopefully this will help further advance the goal of easier access to pricing data for certain healthcare services and procedures. #pricetransparency #healthcaredata #siftia

ARM is planning to spin off a division focused on AI. This strategic move could allow ARM (Already dominant in the AI market especially on the edge) to leverage its corporate valuation of Arm cores in the AI segment. Interestingly, the hardware design blocks used in the development of AI chips are the same as those used in microcontrollers and microprocessors, but optimized for AI, especially on the edge. Exciting news from Arbe (#nasdaq: ARBE), an MS-IR LLC client, announcing the company’s tier-1, Sensrad , has signed an agreement with Tianyi Transportation Technology to supply 4D imaging radars powered by Arbe's advanced chipset.
