Real-time observability Friday: check out this feature coming soon to Capture. Real-time introspection into *all* client-side network APIs across the fleet. We will now allow you to dive into segments of the APIs to gather the most interesting info for drill down, debugging, and dashboard creation. With real-time config, workflows can then be deployed to further deep-dive into interesting cases. As an end-user / network operator for large internet companies I would have lived in this UI constantly. Can't wait to ship it! 🚀

The software industry talks a lot about how to price for optimal profit, but we need to talk more about how to price for optimal trust. Pricing discussions usually focus on charging as much as possible. Demand curves, cost-basis vs. value-basis pricing, tiering, subscription models, usage models, etc. all get a huge amount of discussion. Never forget though: pricing is one of the primary points that defines the relationship between a vendor and their customer. Businesses exist to make a profit, and everyone should be careful not to undercharge for their product. Not charging enough is often an indicator you don’t yet have product market fit. Want to use your pricing to destroy trust? Here’s a few pointers:  - Make your pricing as opaque as possible. Ensure potential customers have to reach out to you to know what something will cost, so that you can charge each individual customer as much as they can possibly afford.  - Force your customers to pick an expensive pricing tier by charging so much for overages that you can scare them into a larger up-front commitment.  - Make sure to hide how you actually bill your customers. Call things “free”, and don’t bother to explain that there are still charges to be recouped.  - Put key functionality into your highest tier when you know your largest customers need it, even if they don’t want any anything else in the tier.  - Design your invoices to hide what you are billing for. Or better yet, don’t even send a breakdown of what you are charging so customers are less likely to realize you are billing them. So how do you build trust with your pricing? Above all else, be fair. The golden rule is key here; build a pricing model you would want if you were on the other side of the transaction.  - Be up front about what everyone pays. Don’t make customers feel like someone else might be getting a better deal somewhere.  - Build feature tiers based on actual value - don’t just force customers into the most expensive tier possible.  - Be up front about all charges, and communicate everything clearly in the bill.  - Figure out how to be fair about overages since they usually don’t cost you anything.
