    Amy’s award follows a recent case in which she successfully pursued a non-dischargeable judgment on behalf of her pro bono client to obtain the return of property wrongfully withheld by a former landlord; the case also resulted in a monetary settlement. In addition, Amy regularly volunteers her time for the defense or pursuit of bankruptcy adversary proceedings for pro bono clients and regularly staffs Volunteer Lawyer Network’s Legal Access Point (LAP) Clinic. Amy also provides pro bono assistance to clients of LegalCORP and Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services (SMRLS) and was a volunteer coach for Maslon UPLIFT: Legal Institute for Teens. Amy is a past chair of the MSBA’s Bankruptcy Section and its Pro Bono Committee and has served as board chair for two nonprofit organizations. She was honored as a North Star Lawyer in 2015-2016 and 2019-2021, a distinction given to lawyers who provide 50 hours or more of pro bono legal services per year.

    Amy devotes an extraordinary amount of time and effort to serving her community through leadership roles, peer support and education, and volunteer work. During the last 20 years, Swedberg has led over 45 educational presentations on a variety of topics within her practice expertise. She regularly volunteers for the Legal Access Point (LAP) clinic at the Hennepin County Government Center and assists the Volunteer Lawyers Network with bankruptcy-related matters, including the letters to creditors program and assisting pro bono clients on bankruptcy adversary proceedings. In 2021, she was elected chair of the Minnesota chapter of the International Women's Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation, having served on its board of directors since 2015. The organization is dedicated to supporting and promoting women in the insolvency and restructuring professions.

    Amy will be profiled in the Top Women in Finance magazine and celebrated at an awards event on Nov. 18, 2021, at the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis.
