This project was led by Dana Rotkovich at Bestway Concrete and Aggregates in Denver. He worked with the General Contractor, Mortenson Construction, to position and sell Aridus Rapid Drying Concrete on this job as a way to reduce time and cost of completing this project. Aridus was selected because it is a “Moisture Elimination” strategy in concrete, compared to secondary moisture mitigation application that would incur additional time and cost and leave trapped moisture in the concrete.

This project included test panels poured to measure the “rapid drying performance” of Aridus vs a competing concrete, then a trial to verify the finishability of Aridus before it was used in both the retail building and the amenities center.

Chris Bradford, the Construction Superintendent for Mortenson put it best, “Moisture mitigation is not only time consuming but it is incredibly expensive. Taking that step out of the process is huge. Aridus has allowed us to see the benefits of reaching low internal relative humidity very quickly. It also reached a high-early psi, which allows us to put equipment on the slab in a 3-day time period. This is one of the keys to speeding up our construction schedule.”

  • Aridus® Rapid Drying Concrete

    - Present

This is a concrete mix that is engineered for applications where moisture vapor is an important factor. Aridus is most commonly used for slabs with floor toppings that are sensitive to moisture vapor and have concrete moisture testing requirements. The internal relative humidity of an Aridus mix decreases much faster than typical slab mix designs.
