Glad to see Follow the Money EU and Iltalehti investigating this. Back in March, I explained that TBI and Sanna Marin were meeting EU Commissioners regarding Ukraine and Moldova's accession to the EU - effectively engaging in foreign interference activities while having their registration suspended from the Transparency Register. This week we learn that TBI does not “receive funding from either the government of Moldova or the government of Ukraine” and declined to comment on who is paying for the institute’s work for Ukraine and Moldova, or how much Marin gets paid. This begs the following questions: 1) then who is paying for the institute’s work for Ukraine and Moldova? 2) Is the European Commission not bound by its proposal for a Directive establishing harmonised requirements in the internal market on transparency of interest representation carried out on behalf of third countries? Or can we consider that the Directive's proposal is dead? Elisa Braun Alexander Fanta Jarno Liski
Sanna Marin, former Finland’s prime minister, is back in Brussels. Her new appointment: getting Ukraine to join the European Union. Documents obtained by Follow the Money prove she is also lobbying for the inclusion of Moldova. https://lnkd.in/d7xsV-Qc
