I told someone a few months ago I would probably grow this film business faster than finding a job in Denmark.
I wasn’t wrong.
For those who knew me before I became a film producer, you know I was looking for a job. I thought finding a job in Denmark would answer my prayers for returning to the film industry.
Well, while I decided to look for a job, I also decided to rebrand my business and start posting and offering my consultancy/film-producing services.
While my film business started to take off, my luck finding a job wasn’t the same.
I think I have a good network in Denmark, but that didn’t help. I sent over 100 applications in 6 months and didn’t get a single interview.
Then I keep seeing articles in the news saying Denmark needs more international talent and will change the rules for non-Europeans so they can come and work.
My question is, what about the many talented foreigners already living in Denmark who can’t find a job?
I consider myself super-capable, an expert in my field with 16 years of experience, a doer with a great attitude, a positive team player, and good at what I do. In a few words, I get sh!t done, and I don’t care about getting my hands dirty!
Well, it didn't matter because I could not get past the typical email: “Thank you for applying, but we have decided to go with another candidate.”
Thank God I know how to sell, show myself, and do marketing because I don't think it would have happened if I had to wait for my dream job in Denmark.
My point is that there are remarkable, competent, and ready to do the work international professionals in Denmark; they are just waiting for an opportunity to come their way.
This is the same reason I created The International Film Network, a community where film professionals could get together, find opportunities, and mingle with the Danes.
Are you that Dane who overlooks foreigners, or are you ready to open the door to them?
