Did you know? High blood sugar can damage the eyes of people with diabetes, causing blindness. Zufall Health is committed to the early detection and treatment of this condition, known as diabetic retinopathy. In 2021, we introduced an AI tool for routine diabetes care, which takes two images of each eye to screen for diabetic retinopathy and provides immediate results. Our screening rate increased from 16% to 35% in two years, helping more patients get timely care. VP of Quality Assurance and Clinical Risk Management, Milibeth Castro, MPH, presented this progress at the American Diabetes Association Conference, earning the President’s Select Designation. We thank Digital Diagnostics for funding Castro’s study. You can review her presentation here: https://lnkd.in/gYC4XfzR

This year’s Be Well Benefit honors Zufall Health founders Dr. Bob and Kay Zufall, while helping us raise funds for our first school-based health center. Meaningfully, many of the patients the Zufalls served in our health center’s early days were schoolchildren needing physicals and vaccines, along with their busy, working parents and other family members. Often, these patients had nowhere else to go for essential health care services—but the Zufalls welcomed them with open arms. Today, we continue their legacy. With your support, our school-based center will soon become a fully equipped medical and dental home. Purchase a ticket or make a donation at https://lnkd.in/exn3Qywd.

Dr. Bob Zufall, who passed away in March, was a hero and role model to so many of us. Driven by a sense of duty that few others recognized, he founded our health center in his retirement at age 65. He and his wife, Kay, worked tirelessly and without pay to serve the underserved. We honor his legacy by continuing his work and making a difference in our communities. We're deeply honored! Our friends at Fingerpaint Group generously gifted Zufall Health with a stunning 4-by-5-foot fingerpainting of our founders, Dr. Bob and Kay Zufall. The masterpiece beautifully captures their warmth and compassion, and it's amazing that artist Cody Sabol created this in just 10 minutes! 🎨 You can see it proudly displayed in our West Orange office. https://lnkd.in/gr7m8YvN
