As we get ready for IBC in 10 weeks, we look back at NAB and how we not only were a critical part of the AWS newsroom infrastructure, but were part of the content as well as programming as Gordon Brooks from Zixi, Timothy Stevens from Verizon and Grant Nodine of the NHL sat down with NAB Live to discuss how Zixi and Verizon are working together to deliver NHL content over 5G networks. See the AWS newsroom video here https://lnkd.in/ehT5PRgr #ultralowlatency #innovation #livestreaming #broadcastmedia
Learn how AWS & NVIDIA support and simplify live broadcast production to create a newsroom in the cloud in this mini documentary. 🎥☁️✨ Illustrating the possibilities of Live Cloud Production (LCP) on AWS in a real-world setting using NVIDIA GPU-backed Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) G4 and G5 instances, Amazon Web Services ran a cloud-based live news broadcast during NAB 2024. Production kicked off each day with a one-hour “Good Morning, NAB!” show, shot on a news desk in the West Hall lobby of the Las Vegas Convention Center using pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras, with the help of a production control room in the AWS booth where vision & audio mixing were done, and a remote team worked on graphics overlays, editing & other tasks. Following the morning show, NAB reporters broadcast daily live interviews from the show floor as they made their way across conference halls. Programming was available to watch at the AWS booth, on the NAB Show website & on select screens located throughout the LVCC. Several additional AWS Partners contributed to the broadcast, including AP ENPS, Ross Video, Telos Alliance, LiveU, Haivision, CaptionHub, Zixi, Alpha, Aoto & Ikan. AWS empowers broadcast customers to scale operations in the cloud & offers flexibility that traditional broadcast setups do not, such as support for remote collaboration; reduced on-premises infrastructure needs and costs; and more eco-friendly operations. Advanced LCP workflows built on AWS use a combination of purpose-built AWS Media Services, such as AWS Elemental MediaConnect & AWS Elemental MediaLive, and solutions and software from AWS Partners to support a range of production demands, from vision & audio mixing to replay, data-driven graphics, signal processing, discovery & routing, and intercom & tally. The Zixi Enabled Network ecosystem of partners coming together to deliver broadcast quality live sports from a difficult, remote location in Slovenia. The Zixi integrated 5G Flyaway from Open Broadcast Systems and AWS Elemental, an Amazon Web Services Company was used to manage and transport the June 29th match between FC Shakhtar Donetsk and Sarajevo by MSTV demonstrating professional broadcast encoding with interoperable video transport to the world with cellular bonding. Zixi did 1.5M live events in 2023 and will surpass that amount in 2024 with partners like these. #innovation #ultralowlatency #livestreaming #broadcastmedia
MSTV used our 5G Flyaway to deliver live coverage of a friendly match between FC Shakhtar Donetsk vs Sarajevo from a remote location in Slovenia. They used seven 4G connections and Starlink to deliver a reliable broadcast signal. Powered by Zixi and AWS Elemental, an Amazon Web Services Company MediaConnect. Our 5G Flyaway solution is continuing to deliver live sports transmissions over bonded cellular without the limitations of backpack-style solutions. https://lnkd.in/gCrc5MnN

In his podcast this week, Dan Rayburn and guest Mark Donnigan discuss the recent Zixi acquisition by Clearhaven Partners and investment by the Zixi executive management team in the deal. #innovation #ultralowlatency #livestreaming #broadcastvideo
Streaming Media Expert: Industry Analyst, Writer and Consultant. Chairman of the NAB Show Streaming Summit ([email protected])
This week, Mark Donnigan and I recap [🎙 https://lnkd.in/eYe9QKnV] details from the ongoing Sunday Ticket trial, including the news that the NFL rejected ESPN's proposed reduced price of $70 for the entire 2023 season for Sunday Ticket, along with single-team packages. Trial evidence also showed that Fox considered Sunday Ticket an "existential threat" to its business, asking the NFL in 2021 that Sunday Ticket not be allowed to grow more than 20% of subscriptions beyond its current level. We also discuss the contents of a second letter from House Representatives to Disney, Fox, and WBD about Venu Sports' business, deeming Venu Sports' response to their first inquiry "insufficient" on collusion, privacy, and pricing concerns. In addition, we highlight Private Equity firm Clearhaven Partners' acquisition of IP video transport vendor Zixi and CTV-focused DSP Madhive's acquisition of omnichannel marketing platform Frequence. Finally, we break down all the latest content licensing deals from Netflix, WBD, Showmax, INDYCAR, Rogers, Warner Bros. Discovery and the new advertising network from Google TV.
