On Monday, October 21, Zekelman Industries filed a federal lawsuit against the Republic of Mexico for dishonest #trade practices. The lawsuit alleges Mexico is dumping subsidized steel into the U.S. market and is fraudulently stamping Chinese and Indian #steel to avoid tariffs, violating import agreements between them and the United States. “Domestic steel is critical to nearly every industry, from transportation to defense and energy to food production,” says Barry Zekelman, Executive Chairman and CEO of the Zekelman family of companies. “We cannot sit quietly and allow Mexico’s steel dumping to damage countless #communities across the U.S. by unfairly taking jobs and shutting businesses.” Want to read more about how we're taking steps to protect #domesticmanufacturing? Cross-border #trade from Mexico to the United States has risen 52% just this year. A large portion of these goods are being made by Chinese companies that are taking advantage of the #international free trade zone maintained by the USMCA, and it's putting #Americans out of work.
