About us

Z Group Architect’s projects celebrate sophisticated, contemporary design with intentional eloquence and luxurious simplicity. We create architectural design that lives in harmony with its landscape. With a finger on the pulse of environmental, and sustainable design initiatives, we have harnessed the power of creativity, functionality and cost effectiveness in our architecture. Our process re-envisions space and place by including natural and local materials, an understand of the relationship between nature and architecture, and an intimate comprehension of how people interact within an environment. Our work ranges from hospitality projects to institutional buildings (including master planning), though we are best known for their private homes, both small and large. A strong commitment to the quality of every project is evident in our designs and professional relationships as repeat clients become friends and make up a majority of our work. Our committed to creating site sensitive architecture that lives in harmony with nature has led us to a multitude of awards and publications. For over 70 years, we have designed architecture across the United States and Internationally, including Japan and Russia. Z Group Architects was originally formed by Samuel J. Caudill FAIA in 1952 as the first licensed architect in Aspen, CO.

  • The renovation of this historic Victorian home showcases how thoughtful design can bring the perfect balance of functionality and tranquility to a space. By reconfiguring the upper floor, our team relocated the kitchen to the former living room, allowing the new living area to benefit from abundant natural light pouring in from both the north and south. 🌿 The addition of large sliding glass doors expands the living space onto a spacious deck, complete with a hot tub, creating an inviting atmosphere for indoor-outdoor living. One of the standout features of the Hallam House renovation is the update of five full bathrooms, each now reflecting modern style and convenience. This transformation of a classic home demonstrates our commitment to preserving historic character while delivering contemporary functionality for today’s homeowners.
