As October winds down and Domestic Violence Awareness Month comes to a close, we ask our community to keep this important cause in mind all year long. Domestic violence doesn't stop when October ends, and neither will we. Tonight, please join YWCA Mohawk Valley for our most powerful evening of the year: Take Back the Night. October is nationally recognized as Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM). As the local service providers for survivors of domestic violence, YWCA MV is honored to hold Take Back the Night every October. This year's Take Back the Night is Tuesday, October 22, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Our evening will begin and end at YWCA MV's administrative office, 7 Rutger Park in Utica. Our annual survivor-centered event will include a brief rally, march, confidential speak-out, and candlelight vigil. Anyone attending is invited to create and bring their own sign(s) to carry during the march. Creative expression is encouraged! Examples can be found in our Take Back the Night photo albums on Facebook. This powerful evening serves as a vital reminder to survivors that we see you, we hear you, and we believe you. 💜

Especially The Community Foundation of Herkimer & Oneida Counties for hosting MV Gives for its third year. Every dollar stays local in order to best serve survivors of domestic and sexual violence in our community. From emergency shelter and housing support to advocacy and accompaniment, our crisis services are always free, confidential, and available 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We had some fantastic visitors yesterday from The Community Foundation of Herkimer & Oneida Counties! One of the Foundation's Heartful Moments for #MohawkValleyGives, this special delivery came with some brand new toys for the children and families in our care at Hall House. Thank you! 🧡 So far this year, we have provided emergency shelter for 63 individual clients. Thanks to the support of our community and people like you, YWCA MV is able to change (and save) lives through programs like our 24-hour domestic violence shelters.
