Support our storytellers during this historic, game-changing election. https://lnkd.in/eBjSQt4B For 30 years, YR Media’s youth journalists– the majority from historically underrepresented communities– have covered U.S. presidential elections, providing hard-hitting reporting and a unique perspective missing from the mainstream media. We have 600 correspondents across the country and offer up to 300 paid internships per year through our award-winning programming. Help us guarantee that our YR stars can contribute to coverage that engages and electrifies other young people to be part of the political process. Please check out the full letter from our CEO here and donate now to #supportourstorytellers.
About us
We are YR, a national network of young journalists and artists. We collaborate with our peers around the country and top media professionals to create content that matters. For 25 years, our non-profit production company has invested in future generations— championing our voices, and those before us— to build critical skills in journalism, arts and media. If you are a student, a young artist or writer, an activist, a parent, a teacher, or someone who believes in the power of this generation, you are in the right place. Hang out and explore our reporting and creative content on politics, identity, and rising artists. We sometimes link up with outlets like Teen Vogue, NPR, Pandora, and NYTimes to further amplify our work. Over the past 20 years, our student-led journalism has earned numerous awards, including some of the industry’s highest honors, from the Alfred I. duPont-Columbia Award in 2000 to the George Foster Peabody Award, and our most recent — the 2018 Edward R. Murrow Award. If you like what you see, you can check out ways to support and join us, at our headquarters in Oakland or as a national correspondent.

On March 8th , Pivotal Ventures sponsored the Teens, Screens, and Wellbeing panel at SXSW. Curios parents, youth, and SXSW attendees filled the room eager to learn more about how teens are navigating social connection in a digital age. The conversation was moderated by Kelsey Noonan, Pivotal Ventures Director of the Adolescent Mental Health Strategy. Panelists included: Pivotal partners, Kyra Kyles CEO of YR Media, Katya Hancock Founding Executive Director of Young Futures Org, and Dr. Emily Weinstein Executive Director of Center for Digital Thriving. I left the panel inspired by the insight and suggested tools shared on how to make it easier for young people to grow up in the digital world. Excited to continue to support this work and the work of our incredible partners through my role leading sponsorships at Pivotal Ventures. Check out the full panel here: https://lnkd.in/etD9zU37
