About us
On May 31, 1947, what is now the Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar of Georgia, commonly known as the YLD, was formed. All members of the Bar who have not yet reached their 36th birthday or who have been admitted to their first bar less than five years are automatically members. Today, the YLD is one of the most dynamic arms of the Bar, offering outreach to both the profession and to the public through various legal programs and projects.

Volunteers needed! On Saturday, July 13 and Sunday, July 14, Mercer University - Walter F. George School of Law will be hosting a mock trial competition, via Zoom, for some of the best undergraduate trial teams across the country. We are seeking volunteers to judge the competition rounds. Rounds will start at 11:00 am and 3:30 pm on both days, although, judges should plan to arrive about 15 minutes early to get set up. Please consider volunteering to judge. These students are deeply invested in trial work, and we want to give them wonderful judging panels who have litigation and trial experience. You can sign up at the following link below or by scanning the QR code. https://lnkd.in/gQSNWcsp There is nothing you need to do in advance of the trial. Generally, judges will simply observe a trial, assign students 1-10 pt scores based on their performances, and provide students with a few minutes of constructive/encouraging feedback. Each trial round will be a maximum of three hours long. For those of you who register, we will send out a brief video as the competition nears to explain the scoring sheet and give some general instructions.
