Check out our article on fighting fire with water, Yorba Linda Water District's heli-hydrants from our May issue. Yorba Linda Water District (YLWD) serves 80,000 people in Southern California, primarily using groundwater managed by the Orange County Water District (OCWD). To treat that water, YLWD built the nation’s largest ion-exchange water treatment plant for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). In this interview, General Manager Mark Toy, who came to YLWD after 35 years as an active-duty officer in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, tells Municipal Water Leader about the district’s operations and about its Heli-Hydrants, where firefighters can quickly fill helicopters with water to prevent and put out wildfires. https://bit.ly/3UL4fkf #FireFighting #WaterManagement #HeliHydrants #YorbaLindaWaterDistrict #WaterDistrict #WildfirePrevention #SouthernCalifornia #GroundwaterManagement #WaterTreatment #PFAS #MunicipalWaterLeader #FireSafety #InnovativeSolutions #CommunitySafety
