Helping children, teens, and families explore, grow, thrive & ultimately become the best version of themselves.
About us
Founded in 1906, YMCA of the Pines is an interfaith, charitable organization dedicated to helping children, teens and families explore, grow, thrive and ultimately become the best version of themselves. YMCA of the Pines is located on 800 acres in the New Jersey Pine Barrens, and has grown from operating a summer camp solely for boys to a year-round organization offering programs to tens of thousands of children and families annually. Our core operations are three summer camps, Ockanickon overnight camp for boys, Matollionequay overnight camp for girls and Lake Stockwell a Co-ed Day Camp. We also serve children through our specialty camps’ partnerships, which include: Camp Bright Feathers– Camp Bright Feathers is dedicated to serving children and teens affected by public health concerns, principally HIV/AIDS and/or violence, through a nurturing overnight camp program that focuses on improving the health, well-being and self-sufficiency of all; Camp Kesem– Kesem is a nationwide community, driven by passionate college student leaders, that supports children through and beyond their parent's cancer; Camp Firefly– Camp Firefly - For children who have lost a parent, sibling or other special person through death, Camp Firefly provides a special place to share feelings, to make new friends, and to find relief from grief. Throughout the camp weekend, activities designed to help ease grief are combined with traditional fun camp experiences such as swimming, canoeing, cookouts, and arts-and-crafts. In addition to these camps, we serve school students from throughout New Jersey through our Environmental Education programs, a variety of churches and non-profit groups through our Outdoor Center (group services retreats, team-building and spirit-building programs) and our Child Care Program where we host the Before-and-After school care for local school students through our nine (9) School’s Out sites providing vital before and after school services with robust curriculum.

Thank you to everyone who came out to our Annual Meeting held at Cherokee Beach on Tuesday. We had a great evening enjoying a BBQ dinner as we celebrated the positive impact YMCA of the Pines has had on the community. We'd like to thank and recognize the Julian A. and Lois G. Brodsky Foundation for their years of continued support of our mission and thank Laura Brodsky for being in attendance to receive our Partner of the Year award. We'd also like to congratulate Katelyn Gillece as she steps into the role as Vice Chief Volunteer Officer with our Board of Trustees and to all our Board of Trustees, staff, volunteers and donors for their dedication that drives our mission forward so children, teens, and families can explore, grow, thrive and ultimately become the best version of themselves. To this we say THANK YOU! To view more pictures from the evening, please check out this link; https://lnkd.in/eVg3rjsP #ymcaofthepines #exploregrowthrive #summercamp #gloucestercountyymca #ymca

Join us for an afternoon of fun and adventure at YMCA of the Pines! BOLD & GOLD is our Outdoor Leadership Development program. The summer trips take place off-site, but this event on Sunday, May 19th is your chance to sample the program on-site. Anyone who will be age 11-17 this summer is welcome to sign up, whether you are a returning participant, new this year, or just curious about the program. There will be outdoor activities that are similar to a BOLD & GOLD wilderness trip, including hiking and canoeing. Everyone should arrive at 1:00 PM to join the group and we will end by 5:00 PM. Families are welcome to stick around as well to enjoy the property and chat with Carol, the director, and one of our Instructors to learn more about the program. This is a great chance to bring a friend who might be interested in signing up for a wilderness trip. We will have examples of our camping equipment that we provide as well as the clothing and gear that we ask you to bring. Register online at ycamp.org/register (listed under 2024 Year Round Camp and Family Programs). Please email Carol Yard, [email protected], if you have any questions. Hope to see you there!

Check out what we got up to last week!
Had an amazing time last week working with Mark Dibble and his team on the communications strategy for the YMCA of the Pines! It was a rewarding experience to mentor and "judge" the participants and their process. The "Value Proposition" and collateral developed will be great resources to tell the story of why overnight camping is crucial for the development of our youth. Wishing you all the best as you move forward with implementing these great strategies. #YMCA #YouthDevelopment #YMCAOFTHEPINES
