Conversations between business leaders and CISOs can sometimes be tense and ineffective. Business leaders want to understand how cybersecurity reduces business risk. CISOs want to communicate how their cyber risk management is doing that. But, quite often CISOs aren't able to communicate this in a way that business leaders understand. To align cybersecurity with business success this needs to change. CISOs have to find a way to effectively communicate the importance and impact of their cyber risk management lifecycle to the wider business. They need to leave technical language at the door and use the language of business instead. To help, we've dissected 6 questions board members want CISO to know the answers to at board meetings. There include: 1. How well are our investments doing to protect the company and shareholder value? 2. What’s our roadmap for cybersecurity? 3. How do emerging cyber threats, like AI and ransomware, impact the business? 4. How is the cybersecurity program aligned with our business goals? 5. What is the expected ROI for this proposed cybersecurity investment? 6. How does our risk and cybersecurity strategy compare to our peers? Give this article a read now and arm yourselves with the answers. --> https://lnkd.in/eqEcWsEe #CyberSecurity #BusinessAlignment

In a recent article by CSO Online claim it's remarkably easy for top IT security execs to lose their jobs. All it takes is a silly decision, a simple oversight, or poor communication. Out of 9 ways CSOs lose their jobs, listed as number 4 is: → "Failing to align cybersecurity with enterprise objectives" The ability to craft and execute a cybersecurity program that prioritizes the critical success factors the organization values is fully in the hands of cybersecurity leaders. But, these CSOs have to be able to communicate their cybersecurity program to the organisation too. Failure to do so creates an exposure that could result in misaligned investments and poor resource utilization. If this is something you're struggling with, we can help. X-Analytics helps you develop business-aligned cybersecurity strategy and helps you communicate success. Cybersecurity threats are now at the top of most companies board agendas. According to the NACD (National Association of Corporate Directors) Quarterly Survey, where directors were asked to identify the top business issues on their board's agenda for the upcoming quarter... Cybersecurity threats rank #1 of topics to discuss and tackle. In fact, 50% of respondents included the issue in their top five for this quarter. With more and more large-scale cyberattacks taking place across multiple different industries, it proves how important it is to invest in a clear and effective cyber security strategy. According to a survey carried out by the The Wall Street Journal, cybersecurity threats have increased for businesses over the past year. The survey was carried out by compliance professionals and 9/10 companies said cybersecurity threats have risen. Accompanying the heightened cyber risk is increased uncertainty about their company's ability to respond to incoming threats. Cybersecurity professionals NEED to respond to this challenge and achieve alignment with business leaders. This isn't always easy, as C-suite and board members don't understand the business relevance of cyber threats. But, X-Analytics can help bridge the gap, communicate the risk, and drive action. Cybersecurity is now a key priority for business leaders and boards. In fact for 46% of boards, it's in the top 3 highest agenda points for 2024. Having a strong risk management strategy that protects your business has never been more important for CISCOs and the C-Suite. But, this increased attention on CISOs has presented new challenges for them. CISOs now have to adapt and learn how to effectively communicate the impact of their program to other stakeholders - who don’t necessarily have a background in cybersecurity. A PwC global survey found that 55% of executives aren’t confident that their cybersecurity spending is accurately aligned with their most significant cyber risk. This means 2 things for CISOs: 1. They need to ensure their priorities are backed by data and aligned with wider business objectives. 2. They need to effectively communicate this information to key stakeholders, both to secure buy-in to their strategy and to attain the investment they need to implement it. In our new article we address these two issues. Give it a read now. https://lnkd.in/eCiFh-2J #CyberSecurity #RiskManagement #CISO
