Happy #NationalInternDay! Today, we celebrate our interns for their hard work and contributions. This year, we welcomed Samay from Olentangy Orange High School, who interned in our IT department. During his time here, Samay gained hands-on experience in his field while seeing our culture firsthand. At Worthington Steel, we believe real-world experience builds a solid foundation for future success. As part of our Green Star Initiative, our Columbus Steel facility took part in a continuous improvement project to reduce the amount of hydrogen needed in our annealing process. The results of this project led to a 19 million cubic foot reduction in annual hydrogen consumption. At Worthington Steel, we are committed to finding even more ways to reduce our environmental footprint. Worthington Steel joint venture TWB Company is poised to bring its lightweighting technology to even more cars.  Now, through an agreement with ArcelorMittal, TWB can expand its capabilities in ablation – one of the fastest growing segments in the tailored blank market. Ablation is an innovative technology that lets TWB weld advanced high-strength steel, which enhances strength, improves crash performance and reduces the weight of automotive applications. Read more about this technology in our latest impact story on our website: https://lnkd.in/dqBubNxB

Each summer our interns in central Ohio volunteer with a local organization to give back to the community. This year, they worked with the Worthington Resource Pantry, an organization who connects families with healthy foods and other resources. Interns unloaded a truck of dry goods that will go to local families in need. We are proud to offer our interns a well-rounded experience that shows what it means to uphold our operating Philosophy. Our Delta, Ohio facility has been leading an annual Community Involvement Day for over five years, where shipping and production is temporarily shut down so employees have the chance to volunteer in their communities. Employees have supported more than 20 non-profit organizations in addition to individual community members who need assistance.   This year, employees volunteered to support local organizations such as Fulton County Board of Developmental Disabilities, Sara’s Garden, Fulton County Fairgrounds and more. Their work included yardwork and landscaping, property maintenance, painting, as well as deck and ramp building.   Thank you to our Delta facility for making a difference in your community and living by Our Philosophy! #DrivingSteelForward
