At our Adapt Evolve event on 5/22 at Bishop Ranch, we set up a unique icebreaker during breakfast to spark connections. The results were fascinating! We displayed six AI-generated images at our “Get Into the Mindset” table and asked attendees to vote on which image inspired a collaborative work mindset. Of the two shared here, nearly 60% chose the image on the right. The image on the left got only one vote. Both spaces seem similar at first glance, colorful with exposed ceilings and natural lighting. So what gives? One key difference is the furniture arrangement—softer seating in the center and café-style setups along the perimeter—creating a relaxed, collaborative atmosphere in the right image. The left image, the left image, with its long corridor, feels more vast and less warm. These small experiments offer valuable insights into creating spaces where people want to be and the behaviors they encourage. It's clear that small nuances can significantly impact how we experience our work environment and each other. Join the conversation: Which space resonates with you? What design elements do you think enhance collaboration and comfort?

Another super successful event in partnership with Bishop Ranch in the books! Our second Annual Adapt and Evolve event was a huge hit and I am feeling inspired and energized after feeling all of the great energy and hearing all of the unique insights throughout the day. Workshape's special sauce of curated hands on engagements, combined with the unique perspectives (of experts adjacent to workplace), located in places people want to be... leads to memorable experiences that resonate! Will be sharing lots of insights and learnings in the coming weeks, but for now, I really just want to send a sincere thanks to those who took time out of their extremely busy schedules to participate and the village of people it took to deliver our high quality program. First off, I want to thank the amazing Annie Murphy Paul, author of The Extended Mind (A MUST READ) for making the cross country trek to deliver our keynote... I (like many others at the event) am filled with new ideas and questions that I want to apply to my thinking about the future of the workplace. Second, a HUGE thank you to the multidisciplnary panel that I had the absolute pleasure to moderate... our conversation around learning to get more out of getting together at work was not only eye opening, but inspiring. Juliana Schroeder Hakee Chang Shujaat Ahmad Brian Elliott Michelle Samura Last but not least, I would like to thank our technology sponsors, who all came to our lunchtime tech demo to share some of the coolest products and solutions out there. Workshape's own Brett Hautop recently sat down with Tom Nguyen from Café to discuss how our work environments impact social cohesion, productivity, and the essential human connections that underpin our professional lives. "Before the pandemic, employee engagement revolved around optimizing in-person interactions. Now, the shift to remote work challenges us to maintain meaningful connections in a digital-first world,” Brett emphasizes. “We need to rethink our engagement strategies to bridge the gap between real and virtual contacts effectively." 📰 Read the full discussion here to get a glimpse into the future of work and why adaptability and more forward-thinking workplace strategies are more crucial than ever: https://lnkd.in/gTkEhD3r #FutureOfWork #WorkplaceInnovation #TeamEngagement #HybridWork #WorkplaceCulture #Leadership #BusinessTransformation #InnovativeDesign

How can a group of people who hardly know each other forge meaningful connections in just one evening? Last week, we set out to create that exact experience—and may just have succeeded. In collaboration with Kaiterra, Trebellar, and Lewis Stevenson, we hosted an intimate gathering of workplace leaders to learn and see a new space type and connect with one another. 📍The evening started out with a tour of the new Google office located in St. John’s Terminal in #NYC. This extraordinary indoor-outdoor space vividly showcases how unconventional spaces can be transformed into a forward-thinking workspace designed for teamwork and sustainability. Thanks to Joshua L. Bruff and Shih Hua Liong’s openness and generosity, we got a rare glimpse into the thoughtful and creative strategies that led to the transformation of this historic building into an innovation hub. ✨ Following the tour, we gathered for a dinner intentionally designed to foster new connections. The vibrant interactions among attendees were so notable that one of the waitstaff remarked, “I have never seen a group that was this connected and engaged with each other at any other dinner we have hosted here.” What makes this even more amazing is that many of the attendees were meeting for the first time! If that’s not a testament to the power of intentional in-person gatherings, we don’t know what is. A heartfelt thanks to our partners, the dedicated individuals who led the tours, and all the attendees for embracing this opportunity to connect and contribute to such a meaningful evening. Swipe through the highlights of our event, and visit our website to sign up for our next one! #Workshape #WorkplaceDesign #Innovation #SustainableDesign #EmployeeEngagement #EmployeeExperience #FutureOfWork #GettingTogether

What if working outside could boost #productivity, #creativity, and overall #wellbeing? According to Brett Hautop, there's a tremendous difference with working inside! "People better retained knowledge and information, and they just would say `I just felt like I actually done exercise or done something that brought energy to me, instead of taking energy away from me`" With summer approaching, let's find a way to adapt work to outdoor environments ☀️ 💻 Shout out to Nellie Hayat & Density for this great ITW 🤩 ☕️ https://lnkd.in/d4GgA9Ai

Designers are often trained to minimize or remove friction, yet there's a compelling argument for embracing 'good friction' in workplace design. This intentional complexity can foster serendipity, sparking unexpected interactions and innovative ideas. Imagine a layout that encourages employees to cross paths more frequently or shared spaces designed to prompt conversation among team members from different departments. Such design strategies can transform everyday encounters into opportunities for collaboration and creativity. But how do we strike the perfect balance between seamless workflow and beneficial serendipity? When does friction become a catalyst for connection rather than a barrier to productivity? We're calling on workplace designers and experience leaders to share their insights and examples of how they've successfully integrated 'good friction' into their environments. Have you designed a space that purposefully includes elements to encourage unexpected interactions, and how have these decisions impacted team dynamics? #GoodFriction #WorkplaceDesign #Innovation #TeamDynamics #ExperienceDesign #WorkshapeLabs
