    🌟 Exciting Day at the 17th Annual Employment Law Symposium! 🌟 Our team had the privilege of attending the 17th Annual Employment Law Symposium, hosted by Morris County SHRM in collaboration with Fisher Phillips. The symposium was an incredible opportunity to deepen our understanding of current employment law trends and best practices. 🔍 What We Learned: Restrictive Covenants/Non-Competes: We explored recent proposed changes impacting restrictive covenant agreements and non-competes, along with proactive strategies and best practices for businesses of all sizes. Immigration: We gained insights into the current state of immigration law, recent changes in visa processes, and best practices to address immigration issues timely and appropriately. OSHA’s New Walkaround Rule: We learned about OSHA's new and aggressive strategies for investigating and penalizing employers for safety infractions, essential for those managing safety-sensitive issues. Wage and Hour Exemptions and New Salary Thresholds: We reviewed the latest changes and proposed changes in wage and hour laws at both state and federal levels, highlighting the challenges HR professionals face in staying compliant. Artificial Intelligence in Employment: We discussed the implications of AI in employee selection, reductions in force, and compliance issues, emphasizing the need to update policies and procedures to stay prepared. MCSHRM holds a special place in our hearts. Our CEO is a past president, and three of our leadership members have served or are currently serving on the board. Their dedication to advancing HR practices and promoting professional development has been instrumental in shaping our organization's values and vision.
