🎯 This community is powerful. Hack your life by getting to know these forces for good in the #AI ecosystem! 👀 🌟 cc Noelle R. & Marlinda G. 🙌
Noelle R. shared this quote some time ago, and I couldn’t agree more: “Surrounding yourself with other like-minded women is a life hack.” Last year’s VOICE & AI conference was the very first conference I’ve ever been to, related to conversation design/conversational AI, and wow, what a journey it has been. Going from attendee, to being a speaker this year. I couldn’t have made it this far, if it weren’t for all the amazing, brilliant, strong, kind-hearted women I’ve met and continue to meet. I highly recommend having a chat with any of these women if you ever have the chance: Talk to Emily about her experience with prompt management (ask for her figma!) Ask Jenny about prompt testing, and collaboration in teams Talk to Maddy about Women in Voice (and please support if you can! I was in between jobs last year and was able to get a free ticket to Voice because of WiV) Talk to Maaike Groenewege about all things linguistics, air traffic control and also join her wonderful community, Convoclub. Katie Swindler is all about sociolinguistics. But also ask her about her time as a horseback riding instructor 😮 Get Rebecca and Diana autograph in your copy of Conversations with things. Talk to Tiarne, Andrea, Susan about how to bridge the gap and educate others on what we know in this field—so many still don’t have access to the info Talk to Shyamala about her books, Emotionally Engaged Digital Assistants and Close Calls Talk to Courtney about accessibility in conversation design Ask Falene about social robots, grab a Gilgamesh pin (and if you dare, ask her opinion on sex robots 🫣) Talk to Janice, Oita, Brenda and Emily Uematsu Banzhaf on their work setting a standard for ethics Talk to Susan and Colleen Fahey on their work in voice marketing Ask Shelby about her experience managing and keeping track of different client needs, access to tools and scaling conversation design If you’re working on persona design, digital humans/assistants, or you want to learn how to harness the power of your human voice, Mellini Monique is all ears. Ask Naina what it was like being the youngest presenter at the conference (16!) Want to talk to women who have been there done that? Stop Heidi, Noelle and Lisa for a chat. Others who weren’t at this year’s conference but hope to see in future events: Cathy Pearl, Maaike Coppens (yes! There are TWO Maaikes in CXD), Grace Hughes, Olivera Bay 🍁, Elaine A., Millani Jayasingkam. Honestly, I could go on and on. And I would not have been able to meet these women if not for Peter, VOICE & AI and this community. Thank you thank you thank you. Let’s keep growing, learning and innovating. (Oh, and the guys? Eh. They’re alright 😬)
