It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tyana Stone, CSM, a cherished member of our WIT Single Mothers Program, on June 29, 2024, at the age of 31. Tyana was an exceptional student in our program, excelling in Cybersecurity at Emory University. Her dedication and talent led her to a successful career at Equifax, where she rose to the position of Scrum Master. Tyana's leadership, communication skills, and problem-solving abilities made her an invaluable asset to our community. During her time with Women In Technology (WIT), Tyana demonstrated an unwavering commitment to excellence and inclusion. She played an integral role in the Black Organization for Leveraging Differences (BOLD), creating the Black History Month Knowledge Nugget Website and promoting diversity within the tech industry. As we remember Tyana, we also want to support her family during this difficult time. Tyana was a devoted mother to her sons, Aiden and Amir, and we greatly appreciate any assistance our community can provide. Send us a message for the link to the family GoFundMe account to support her two sons' future education fund.

What a great week to be a WIT girl! We started the week hosting WIT (Women in Technology) our partnering sponsors and the WIT Girls at the State Farm office here in Atlanta for the opening ceremony of the WIT Girls Job Shadow Week! The morning was filled with excitement, enthusiasm, great vibes, and a few surprises!!! How lucky are we to get a surprise welcome from our former CIO, Ashley Pettit a big supporter of our STEM/STEAM efforts, we are grateful to her for her dedication, innovation, and superb leadership. To add to a great start, our amazing WIT Girl of the Year Zareenah Ahmed shared a few words about her experience as a WIT Girl and what it’s going to take to fill her big shoes! Our WIT Girl ambassadors then engaged the girls in a fun and interactive networking icebreaker called WIT Girl Bingo! We also had the pleasure of meeting representatives from all the partnering sponsors, who each shared insights on what technology means to their organization and the vital role women play in it. Our girls are pretty special because the C-suite leaders from the sponsor companies also sent the girls messages to wish them an amazing week! Wendy Frazier Ashley Noto Wendy Thomas and In person Cathie Costello 🩷 Thank you each for taking the time to give our girls the warmest welcome! You all truly are an inspiration to all of us, representation matters and we are so grateful to ourselves in each of you! 🫶🏾 #womenintech To close out the opening ceremony our new appointed Chief Digital/Chief Information Officer Vijayasri Yerraguntla, CLU, ChFC, CCXP sent out WIT girls and Partners a few words to send us each off and charged up for a productive week! I can’t express the gratitude I have for each person that played a role in making this day a success… my State Farm family never fails to show up! Thank you for giving your time… support and encouragement… you all are truly the best! Thank you Women In Technology (WIT) for the partnership we look forward to collaborating on more ventures in the future to keep driving the mission of empowering girls from the classroom to the boardroom! And the All the WIT GIRLS… it was a pleasure to have you all visit us here at State Farm…we look forward to continuing to see you all on journeys in STEM/STEAM! Until next year!!….🫶🏾🫶🏾❤️❤️ #womenintech #stem #steam #girlsintech #girlsrock #ourstatefarm #earthlink #greenlight #theweathercompany #secureworks #dell #equifax Equifax Greenlight The Weather Company EarthLink Secureworks

It’s a wrap on the 2024 Women In Technology (WIT) Girls Job Shadow week! Yesterday, Savannah Dortch and I had the pleasure to stop by and sit in with the girls on site at EarthLink, who were live coding with AI chatbots and automated call workflows. Wow! I’m so impressed by all of these young women (and definitely felt like the least smart person in the room). It’s vital that they see a glimpse of the day-to-day excitement of a career in technology. Less than 30% of women make up the tech workforce, and we've got to change that stat... STAT! Kudos to Tiffany Long from EarthLink’s ERG, Brittney Simmons, SHRM-SCP from the HR team, and the entire leadership team for welcoming the girls and giving them such exciting projects to tackle! A tremendous amount of work and effort goes into these job shadows and that doesn’t go unnoticed! And thank you to WIT's five other 2024 Job Shadow week partners, Equifax, Greenlight, Secureworks (Dell Technologies), State Farm, and The Weather Company for serving as gracious hosts for these young women and giving them an idea of what it takes to succeed! It takes a village and so grateful you’re supportive of the WIT community! 🙏🏼
