About us
WOMEN IN MINING (WIM) - Denver Chapter is part of a nationwide organization composed of individuals employed in, associated with, or interested in the mining industry. The Organization is NOT limited to women only. Founded in 1973, it is the oldest Chapter in the USA. Members include engineers, geologists, land men, secretaries, lobbyists, mine workers, educators and concerned citizens. Many WIM members are business and civic leaders extending their influence and expertise into their local communities. Such varied backgrounds are extremely beneficial to the organization and members are encouraged to share this expertise and experience both formally and informally. Our objective is to enhance public awareness about the evolving and advancing mining industries and to promote diversity by providing opportunities for networking and professional development. The WIM - Denver Chapter organizes monthly meetings hosted by our one of industry partners, participates in local STEM activities, supports students from local Universities navigate future career path, among others. Women in Mining Utah, we are so sorry to hear of the loss of your founding member and former Vice President, Rebecca Bweupe-Siwale. Women in Mining Denver members and supporters, please consider donating to a fundraiser to support her 3 daughters (link below in WIM Utah's post).
Women in Mining Utah is devastated by the untimely passing of founding member and former Vice President, Rebecca Bweupe-Siwale. Rebecca was a proud and loving mother of 3 beautiful daughters, who are left on their own in her absence. A fundraiser has been established to help support funeral costs in the United States and her home country of Zambia: https://lnkd.in/grAaqc8X Rebecca served as the Head of Digital Services for FLSmidth, where she managed a team of 90 individuals globally. Rebecca's passion for the mining industry was present in every facet of her work. In 2022, she was named a WIM100: a prestigious award honoring influential women in the mining industry: https://lnkd.in/ejEnbn9M She has held leadership positions within WIM UT and SME-supporting the I&D Committee, WAIMME, the Women of SME, and many others. We are so grateful to have had Rebecca touch our lives and support us in our journey. Please use the comment space to share stories and uplifting memories of Rebecca. She was a powerful force in our industry and will forever be honored and missed.
