From September 19 to 21, WFD attended the @FIAPAC conference in Brussels. For our remote team, meeting in person is always special—especially when it means connecting with global partners and contributing to important conversations around sexual and reproductive health. We’re thrilled to announce that WFD was selected for three abstracts this year: 1) A poster for howtouseabortionpills.org: Addressing the Abortion Knowledge Gap: E-Learning Initiatives for Healthcare Providers Training 2) A poster for safe2choose.org: Expanding Safe Abortion Access: The safe2choose Chatbot and Counselor Synergy 3) And an oral presentation by the #ReproUncensored Coalition, presented by Venny Ala-Siurua from Women on Web on behalf of RU's founding members (Plan C Pills , WoW, Reproaction, and Amnesty International USA): Fighting Digital Suppression of Abortion Information Beyond the abstract presentations, the event featured inspiring advocacy speeches and discussions on new advancements in technical protocols for abortion care. We left feeling energized and ready to continue fighting for reproductive justice. We’re also proud to have signed the European Safe Abortion Networking Group statement in honor of #InternationalSafeAbortionDay. Read here - https://lnkd.in/eU-2iHN2 Additionally, our ReproUncensored coalition video on fighting digital censorship is now live on the RU website! It’s a crucial reminder of the ongoing battle for accessible abortion information in the digital age. While it won't drive traffic directly to us, we're excited to share it and keep building awareness. Looking forward to continuing these important collaborations and conversations! #FIAPAC2024 #ReproductiveRights #AbortionCare #DigitalSuppression #GlobalAdvocacy #WomenFirstDigital

🌍 It's #InternationalSafeAbortionDay! Just last March, following the historic inclusion of abortion freedom in the French constitution, I had the privilege of speaking at TEDxGEM about how women have reclaimed their bodily autonomy throughout history to secure #safeabortions options, even in the face of restrictive laws. ⏯️ You can watch it here: https://shorturl.at/0q2Vi Today, with safe and effective #medicalabortion options available, women continue to assert their autonomy. ✊ Self-managed abortions, backed by accurate information and telemedicine, empower women to make informed and safe choices on their own terms. This shift toward de-medicalizing abortion is crucial for breaking down barriers like cost, stigma, and limited access, putting control of reproductive health back in the hands of women. 👉 Very proud of the Women First Digital (WFD) team and our safe abortion platforms: safe2choose.org and howtouseabortionpill.org. However, challenges persist. 🚧 Access to products, the need for better training among health professionals, and the digital censorship of abortion information remain significant hurdles, particularly in restrictive regions. 📚 Ensuring accurate and accessible information is essential, and we must advocate for reliable resources to remain available and uncensored. 👉 Also very proud that Women First Digital (WFD) is part of the ReproUncensored.org coalition, which fights against the digital suppression of online abortion information. #WomensRights #BodilyAutonomy #ReproductiveHealth #AbortionPills #AbortionAccess #SafeAbortion #DigitalRights #TEDx #Digitalcensorship

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WFD is grateful to have participated in the powerful Zarelia Festival, focused on hope in Latin America and the Caribbean, last month in Ecuador. The conversation surrounding sexual and reproductive health often excludes men’s participation, but the reality is that men also need better access, more information, and more resources regarding SRHR. Parenting is also often seen as a female domain, but lots of men are interested and willing to play a much bigger role. In this episode of Unapologetically Uterine, we will talk about the importance of increasing men’s access to and use of reproductive health services, enhancing men’s awareness of and support for their partners’ reproductive health, and the role of men and fatherhood. Abortion access in the U.S. has been restricted since the Supreme Court's June 2022 decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health. New laws now limit online information about abortion and reproductive care, impacting free speech rights. This affects WFD's mission to support those seeking abortion care information online. Michell Mor from WFD will join a panel discussion organised by the Woodhull Freedom Foundation. Joining WFD at the panel will be partners from the Planned Parenthood Pennsylvania Advocates, Plan C Pills, and Fight for the Future, addressing the intersection of abortion access and censorship. Join us on July 30th at 3pm ET to learn how we continue to ensure uninterrupted access to SRH information. Register here.
