We were happy to host Rep. Ken Borton and Great Lakes Energy at our Alpine Power Plant this week.
Today we welcomed Michigan Rep. Ken Borton, 105th District, in a visit to the Alpine Power Plant in Elmira which is owned by our power supplier, Wolverine Power Cooperative. CEO Shaun Lamp and other co-op staff members also attended the tour of the 432 MW natural gas fired power plant. With hot temperatures spiking this week, electric demand is increasing making the electric generation from the Alpine Power Plant a vital part of providing reliable service to GLE members.

Wolverine is always generating creative ideas to ensure our members enjoy electricity that is reliable, affordable, and sustainable. “What we’re trying to do is think of something that’s very different that would provide access to the Upper Plains and create sort of a renewable superhighway,” Wolverine CEO Eric Baker said. “It creates diversity, which will be essential when we’re relying more and more on other intermittent resources.”
