AI is like having a great teammate who makes you better, faster, and more creative. But, that great teammate requires you to understand how to leverage it and pass it the ball. One suggestion is to think about your job and anything you find annoying or ineffective. 1) Find that your 1/1's are scattered and not on point. Ask it what's a great structure for a 1/1. 2) Find that you don't know how to develop your career or the career of others? 3) Find that your performance review process isn't great? 4) Find that you're not consistently providing feedback to your team or cross functional partners? 5) Find that your quarterly conversation process is ineffective in pockets? 6) Find that you've never been formally trained in managerial effectiveness? 7) Find that you're having difficulty prioritizing your work or projects? 8) Find that you're not great at laddering your work to the company strategy? And communicating / cascading clearly? These are all great use cases that become exceptional with context. It's surprising to see that nearly 40% of people who voluntarily leave a job don't talk to their managers before making their decision to go. 🤯 With half of US workers watching or actively seeking new jobs, it's more important than ever for all managers—whether their employees seem content or not—to check in and see how things are going. Communication is key to seeing what, if anything, can be done to help a voluntary "leaver" find success in their current role and possibly stay with their company. An open dialogue is always a good start.
Employees often make exit decisions without proactive communication. Thirty-six percent of voluntary leavers report that they did not talk to anyone before they made the decision to resign. Even when employees did talk to someone while deliberating, their managers were frequently left in the dark. Gallup found it was more likely that employees had such discussions with their coworkers than their managers. If managers want to prevent employee turnover, they cannot wait for employees to express their intentions to leave. The manager is responsible for initiating the right conversations before their employees make the decision to leave their jobs. Employee discontent and voluntary exits are highly preventable.
