DOJ is currently recruiting for a Crime Victim Compensation Claims Specialist to join us. The position will be headquartered at the Risser Justice Center in Madison, WI, with the opportunity for remote work. The Crime Victim Compensation Claims Specialist is responsible for the management of claims involving but not limited to compensable medical expenses, wage loss, clothing/bedding. This position is required to review and discuss information about violent crimes perpetrated against adults and children, including but not limited to homicide, physical assault, and sexual assault. This position will identify, acquire, and analyze information required to evaluate CVC applications; apply appropriate sections of Chapter 949, and JUS 11, to make eligibility determination decisions and apply statutes, administrative rules and program procedures to calculate award amounts; work directly with and assess information from the initiation of the claim process from law enforcement personnel, professional medical staff, prosecutors and victim/witness staff, attorneys, private insurance providers, and employers, as well as victims, their family members and others involved in the incident for which a claim is being made.
