Wisconsin's Technical Colleges strive to help all students achieve, no matter their obstacles. Southwest Wisconsin Technical College has incorporated Universal Design into its student services philosophy and is helping share the model to enhance its efforts.
Universal Design Southwest Tech has worked with Landmark College in Putney, Vermont, over the last four years to help train our faculty and staff in Universal Design for Learning as well as Executive Function Strategies to help us better serve all students, especially those that need it the most. As part of a state leadership grant, last summer Betsy Ralph-Tollefson, Academic Lead/Communication Instructor, traveled with five faculty members to the Landmark Summer Institute for Educators at Landmark College. After attending, she believed they had lived experience that would benefit many other college professionals that were looking to introduce universal design on their campuses. So, this summer, Christena Bowers, Disabilities/Support Services Manager, and Ralph-Tollefson, presented Creating and Adopting a Culture of UD in Post-Secondary Education at Landmark. They lead a workshop session helping people work through goal setting and team building to introduce the work of universal design on their campus. They received positive feedback from attendees for the presentation and insight on this subject. #SWTCProud

Check out the second in a series of videos, "WTCS Tour of Excellence," where System President Morna Foy begins her visit at Nicolet College with a fireside chat and ends her visit listening to some of the concerns of Native American Tribal students whose tribal nations face outside pressures and challenges on various levels. Nicolet College is a uniquely beautiful campus, positioned in the far north part of the state, on the shores of Lake Julia. The campus also offers a unique (to the state) Tribal Management program. https://bit.ly/3VXJOl1
