Last week, in a significant milestone for marine conservation, WildAid unveiled a new patrol boat, named “Albacore,” during a ceremony in Libreville, Gabon. The vessel was presented to Gabon’s General Directorate of Fisheries and Aquaculture, marking a new chapter in the battle against destructive illegal fishing in Gabon’s waters. The Albacore is more than just a boat; it symbolizes the collective efforts and support of WildAid’s dynamic donors, who believe in preserving Gabon’s incredible marine biodiversity.  Learn more: https://lnkd.in/ggcA3EKW

Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula is a stunning region where the Gulf of Mexico meets the Caribbean Sea, teeming with diverse and productive ecosystems. Its coastal lagoons, mangrove forests, and coral reefs are home to a variety of wildlife, including four species of sea turtles, 34 species of coral, and 24 species of sharks and rays. However, these ecosystems face threats from illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, which jeopardizes the health of marine life and the sustainability of local fisheries. This clandestine activity often goes unchecked due to insufficient enforcement resources and inadequate surveillance, making it a persistent and escalating challenge for local communities worldwide. Here's how local communities are taking on this threat and protecting Yucatán’s marine ecosystems. 👉 https://lnkd.in/gmx5e-NU

Rainforests are vital to all life on Earth. 🌿 They produce about 20% of the world’s oxygen, house over half of the world’s plant and animal species, and play a crucial role in regulating our climate and water cycle. In Cameroon, these lush forests are essential to the daily life of millions of Cameroonians who rely on them for food and medicine. Forests are also intimately linked to Cameroonian traditional practices and cultural identity. Pangolins play a crucial role in maintaining the health of Cameroon’s rainforests, making them essential guardians of the country's natural heritage. A single pangolin can consume up to 70 million ants and termites yearly, supporting the ecosystem and protecting local crops from damage. We’re proud to partner with Cameroonian traditional leaders and communities to protect the country’s invaluable rainforests and the animals who live there. Our efforts focus on raising awareness and garnering support for these ecosystems, as well as protecting vulnerable species like the pangolin. #WorldRainforestDay

Sustainability isn't just about reducing carbon emissions - it's also about balancing social, economic and environmental considerations. Thank you to everyone who took part in our breakfast highlighting our eyeo Green Media Solution and Conscious Advertising initiatives. As part of our sustainability commitment, we spearheaded a campaign in collaboration with WildAid, an NGO dedicated to climate change initiatives and consumer education. In this endeavor, we partnered with other sustainable technology solutions, Duration Media LLC., SeenThis and Scope3, to execute a media campaign with substantially reduced carbon emissions compared to traditional programmatic buys and drive behavior change in US-based consumers. Digital media has a hefty environmental price tag, but we can drive effective and sustainable environmental change through strong collaboration and strategic alliances. By working together, we can mitigate the environmental impact of our digital footprint and promote lasting, positive outcomes for the planet. We hope these findings inspired our guests to leverage these innovative solutions for their own brands’ campaigns to meet their goals effectively while promoting a greener media ecosystem. Special thanks to Felix Derkum, Ben Silverstein, Roberta Scrofani, Stephanie Hill (WildAid), Brian Murphy (Duration Media LLC.), Ben Riley (SeenThis) and Harvin Gupta (Scope3), John Osborn (Ad Net Zero). #Cannes2024 #Cannes #eyeoXCannes #sustainability #eyeoGreenMedia #AdTech #ConciousAdvertising

We're proud to celebrate 10 years of sea turtle conservation in Ecuador! Ecuador’s coastal waters provide an ideal habitat for five sea turtle species (Green, Leatherback, Olive-Ridley, Loggerhead, and Hawksbill), making the country an important site for conservation. For the past decade, WildAid has supported NGOs, park rangers, and volunteers across Ecuador's coast on various sea turtle conservation projects including marking and protecting nests, releasing more than 350,000 sea turtle hatchlings into the sea in these ten years, and educating the local community about the importance of sea turtles. Last week, we had the honor of presenting this work at the COP11 Inter-American Convention for the Protection and Conservation of Sea Turtles. Sharing our experience and learning from other conservationists was an inspiring step towards a future where sea turtles thrive.
