On June 7th, members of our project team joined state and local officials at the ribbon cutting ceremony for the first phase of DelDOT's Park Avenue Relocation project. The event marked the opening of a new alignment for the US 9 truck bypass around Georgetown, Delaware. WRA led the design for Phase 1 improvements which included widening for shoulders and auxiliary lanes, conversion of a stop-controlled intersection to a roundabout, and the construction of a one-mile realignment of Park Avenue. Phase 2 truck route improvements are scheduled to begin in 2026.

Lex Shostak and Monica Del Real, of WRA's Environmental team, took an on-site beehive tour at Rocky Point Centre, home of the WRA Tampa office. Bee Downtown, a company that installs and maintains hives on corporate campuses, provided a hands-on educational experience and direct interaction with the bees. During the tour, the Bee Team got suited up and learned how to carefully open up a hive, use a smoker, maneuver frames, and gained understanding on the vital role honeybees play in agricultural systems.

Paula Moore and Brandon Flora, of WRA's Blacksburg Water/Wastewater group, provided water system hydraulic instruction at the Virginia AWWA Distribution Systems Spring Seminar. Held at the Henrico DPU Operations Facility in Glen Allen, Virginia, they presented to 55 water system owners, operators, and engineers from across the state.
