Updates

  • Whiteley Infrastructure Group has been actively surveying, mapping, engineering, and developing projects in SE Texas since 1978. The map below shows the 100s of jobs that we have completed in that time. If your project is heading towards City of Beaumont, here is how we help you succeed: 1. Data. We have it. Real property records, survey monuments, easements, rights of way. For 46 years we have gathered and maintained these data sets. They are in an actionable, usable for at that makes your route selection and land acquisition easier and more cost-effective. 2. Politics. It’s SE Texas. You want to know people before you show up. And we know people. And they know us. As active stewards in our schools, churches and communities, we know the people who are impacted by your project and the people that can impact your project. We can help you fit in. 3. Experience. Our long-tenured employees have been there and done that. And they have done that right here in Beaumont. Don’t bring a greenhorn to a greenfield project (or any project if you can help it). Every project risk needs a mitigant, and by using a seasoned, local firm, your Beaumont projects can be safely de-risked. Let’s talk.

  • The power of diverse sensors. Recently, we have been flying a lot of solar assets to ascertain and confirm maintenance and performance levels. A few interesting observations: 1. The LIDAR is an incredibly effective tool for identifying and sizing surface erosion and displacement. Given the age and configuration of many solar arrays, subsidence mitigation is a maturing and acute maintenance need. See the blue image below and look for the eroding channels branching from left to right. 2. Thermal scans and relative thermal mapping provide great indications of power distribution failure. Note the relatively uniform distribution of orange hues below. 3. Ultra HD imaging is a great way to inspect orientation and integrity of panels. It can also confirm the surface erosion cataloged by LIDAR. This is not hobby drone tech. These images and the survey-grade control with which they are analyzed and collected provide solid data for asset operators to make decisions on critical maintenance events. If you are not flying your assets, yet, please reach out to Michael Ewing, GISP or Jason Whiteley, Esq., PMP. We will get our eyes on your prize!

Shared some time this morning with the departed men and women at the Houston National Cemetery. If you are local and have not yet been, I encourage you to do so. It’s a beautiful space, echoes or Arlington, but with the live oaks and pine trees that make Houston home. Also, must note that the alphanumeric coding on the monuments made me smile. The military remains undefeated at organizing things. Salute! 🫡
