It was great to see my good friend Carlos Del Toro preside over a historic ceremony as the the 78th Secretary of the Navy. It’s been an honor to see how much impact he has been able to have on our Navy over the past years. In doing so, he has become one of the the top 10 longest serving secretaries, since the reorganization of the department. Without question, he joins an exclusive circle of distinguished alums of the White House Fellows Foundation & Association. I hope many young residents of NYC, midshipmen of the United States Naval Academy, or young officers in the US Navy can take in his incredible journey of a career. Honored to deliver the keynote today to over 550 veterans, family members, and friends at the Veterans Medical Leadership Council’s 21st Annual Heroes Patriotic Luncheon at the Commemorative Air Force Museum in Mesa, AZ. The focus was A Salute to the Greatest Generation, with an airplane hangar full of people dedicated to service. Special guests included: 🔸 World War II Veterans—men and women— ranging in ages from 97-102, Rosie the Riveters, Navajo Code Talkers…the list goes on. Pretty Extraordinary. 🔸 Sammy Lee Davis — Medal of Honor recipient who, in Vietnam, manned a machine gun and burning howitzer under heavy fire to protect his unit. His story is captured in Forrest Gump with real footage of him receiving the Medal of Honor. Sammy’s beatiful wife, Dixie, accompanied him! 🔸 Colonel Bruce Crandall — Medal of Honor recipient and Helicopter pilot who, during the Battle of Ia Drang, flew 22 missions into enemy fire to deliver ammunition and evacuate the wounded. His actions, which saved over 70 lives, were portrayed in We Were Soldiers. Today served as a profound reminder of the courage and sacrifice that define service. Special thanks to Tom Eisiminger, Jr. and Dave Rosenfeld for inviting me to be a part of this very special day, against a really incredible backdrop! With Veterans Day right around the corner, it was energizing to represent JPMorganChase at the National Veteran Small Business Coalition - NVSBC Annual Awards Gala last night! Ruth Ann Clark's remarks resonated as she described the firm's commitment to military veterans, spouses, and families. At JPMorgan Chase, supporting those who serve isn’t just a program—it’s a priority. From career readiness initiatives and hiring efforts to targeted financial resources for veteran-owned small businesses, the firm is dedicated to helping military communities thrive. It was inspiring to be in a room filled with business and community leaders dedicated to empowering veterans as they transition into entrepreneurship and civilian life. Thank you to NVSBC for hosting a wonderful evening and for your continued advocacy for veterans in the small business sector.
