One of my favorite emails to get is from old friends and colleagues. They usually go something like "Hey Adam, I am starting something new and I would love to work together again." This brings me so much joy. 1. Because I get to see a friend chase a dream and a monumental goal. And 2. Because I get to help play a small part in helping them to visualize their journey. When Matt Roberts, CPA hit What Else up we were so excited to be helpful. Anyone who knows Matt knows that he exudes positivity, excitement, and empathy. These are all perfect qualities of someone who helps his clients navigate complex government tax structures and processes. So, we got to work, understanding Matt's goals, needs, challenges, and more. The design team came up with lovely and empathetic work as usual, and of course it adheres to our principle of being utility driven and ultra-useful. The result is a strategy, a brand, and a website that matches Matts energy and enthusiasm. We are so stoked with how this one took shape. Thank you to the design team for your thoughtful and intelligent efforts: Daniel Cardoza Jorge Angarita And thank you Matt for your trust and excitement. - Adam ‽

Been a little quiet on here lately, partly because I was able to take a vacation, and partly because the team has been knee deep in loads of work. But yesterday we were able to gather IRL in Brooklyn for our offsite where we had the chance to reflect on What Else, express areas where we would like to improve as individuals, and plan the future of The Studio. But most importantly, I love this team and feel so lucky to call them my peers. See you in the future. What Else turns 2!
It's hard to pin down a Studio's birthday. The idea exists for so long before the leap is taken, it feels like there are many moments that could be considered "the start." But, at some point between June and July, we think What Else has a birthday. Maybe June 21 to be exact? Who knows. The point being, we are somehow two years old as a Studio now. And we just want to say thank you to all of our amazing clients. Without your trust and excitement, there is no us. And to our incredible team of Strategists, Designers, Writers, Project Managers, Developers, Animators, Videographers, Photographers, Directors, Art Directors, Doers — Thank you so much for making this place so kinetic and special. The past two years have been the most fun (and damn hard) of my life. Thank you Jason Bacher for joining and helping to steer this thing. And thank you Yumi Yamsuan for keeping us so organized and honest. We are just getting started. – Adam ‽

Your brand is so, so much more than just your logo. The logo is the initial handshake, and everything after that is your brand and your promise. BUT, it doesn't hurt to have a great logo.. Here are some of our favorites from the last couple years at What Else

Before this project kicked off, everything just felt right. A great organization going through a name and brand shift, a great cause, and we didn't know it yet, but an absolutely GREAT leader at the helm of the org. We got an email from Alexander Peay asking for some brand help for his organization, Ones Up (formerly Rising Sons). His thesis went something like this: "Ones Up is dedicated to fostering economic mobility in Black and Brown communities through a career development program focused on healing, wellness, and social justice for youth aged 16-24. By creating spaces for young people to engage with social justice issues in their communities, Ones Up enhances their opportunities for upward mobility. Y'all interested in helping us evolve our brand?" It was an automatic "absolutely" from us. Then we got on the phone with Alex, and y'all, this organization and project might be great but this guy is the embodiment of intelligence, kindness, empathy, and so much more. Alex had a vision and a way of describing the Ones Up future that immediately resonated with us. We were fired up by the brief, sure, but even more motivated by Alex's energy. So, to keep a long story short, the resulting brand is what came of our partnership. A call to action for the youth of Philadelphia to engage in the Ones Up mission and values. This project will forever hold a dear spot in my heart, and to have such great partnership just makes it that much better. So thank you again, Alexander Peay for your trust, excitement, and heart. Thank you to the team of Logan Emser and Nico Guidicessi who helped to craft such a confident and energetic mark for our client and friend, thank you Daniel Cardoza for bringing the mark to life through animation, and thank you to all the members of Ones Up for embracing the brand and activating it proudly. At What Else we are known to "sample" our clients products from time to time. With summer on the way, and warmer days ahead, we thought this would be a great time to recommend our friends over at Kally! A robust, magical wine alternative. https://drinkkally.com/ Let's just say the photoshoot, and this entire project, was a fun and delicious time. A couple of favorites from our case study for Quantile Health. This brand was so much fun to build. The richness of the space gave us plenty of material to try out and strategize over. Happy Monday, everyone. link to case study: https://lnkd.in/eReJS7Q5 – Adam ‽

New work for Quantile Health!
When Quantile Health came to What Else, they had a logo and a vision. A vision to build a brand that empowers patient access to gene therapies by pioneering a reimbursement platform. We had the privilege to help them build a visual system to support this vision and set them up to scale this brand into the world changing idea that it will become. It was truly a joy to work on this project with Yutong Sun and Jackie Wu. Two of the best and most thoughtful clients we could have asked for. And thank you to Jason Bacher and Yumi Yamsuan for your commitment to utility driven and thoughtful design solutions for our clients. Give the case study a look! — https://lnkd.in/eReJS7Q5 And be sure to look out for more from our friends and partners at Quantile Health soon. — Adam ‽
