📢 Big Announcement! 📢 We are proud to share that Western Technical College has been ranked #5 in the Non-Traditional/Online/Vocational category on the 2024-25 Military Friendly® Schools list! 🏆 Being a 2024-25 Military Friendly® School means we excel in supporting veterans transitioning from military service to education and, ultimately, successful civilian careers. This designation reflects our commitment to providing exceptional support and outcomes for our student veterans. 🇺🇸 How is the Military Friendly® designation determined? The evaluation for the Military Friendly® designation is based on data from three key categories, known as the three Ps: Public data sources Proprietary data from our survey Personal data from surveys of veterans themselves Guidance is provided by the Military Friendly Advisory Council, which offers diverse perspectives on the methodology. The data is processed through a predetermined algorithm and results are calculated using a third-party platform that is fully automated, ensuring no human calculation. The results are published based on the responses received from participants and/or federal/state public data sources. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our veteran students who participated in the survey and shared their invaluable insights. Motivational Monday! We are thrilled to announce that four of our exceptional graduates, Utility Plant Technicians Karla Loya, Alexis Vallejo, Nathaly Rivera, and Priscilla Jimenez, are making a significant impact in the wastewater field thanks to the FREE Skills for Sustainability program offered at Western Technical College. This incredible program, in partnership with El Paso Water, STTE Foundation (The Success Through Technology Education Foundation), and the nonprofit The Trust for the Americas, equips candidates from El Paso and Ciudad Juárez with the skills needed for water and wastewater plant jobs. Participants receive a free six-week education and mentorship at Western Tech, helping El Paso Water fill plant vacancies and creating opportunities for many more aspiring technicians. Achievements to Date: - The first cohort on wastewater produced 11 Utility Plant Technician Trainees, with nine securing permanent positions. - The second cohort on water yielded 23 trainees, currently in their six-month probation period at plants and the Water Production department.
