Today is National Intern Day! If you know WWW, you know that our internship program is more than a pipeline of talent—it’s foundational to who we are. Over the years, we’ve trained and worked with more than 140 interns, each one bringing something unique—and our firm and our industry are better for it. Shout out to our current intern, the fabulous Friday Elkan. In just their first month at WWW, Friday has become a trusted partner—researching at lightning speed, bringing creativity to every assignment, and helping transform kernels of ideas into full-blown drafts. We’re thrilled to have them here, and just as thrilled to welcome Delaney Wehn and Shalin Mehta in the coming months! More broadly, we’re so grateful to every intern, past and present, who is a part of this special community. And as our alumni continue to make sure good people and ideas get heard, we’re proud to be a place that supports new voices and mentors the next generation of speechwriters and strategic communicators. "The cliché goes that history repeats itself, but it feels more accurate to say that history overlaps with itself, that it builds on top of itself and erases itself and reveals itself again." We're incredibly proud of our Annabelle Long, whose poetic essay on the winding neighborhoods and rich history of Berkeley, California, is published in the essay collection, "Writing the Golden State: The New Literary Terrain of California." Ready for the debate tonight? Our Jeff Shesol is. In today's opinion section of The New York Times, he lays out the stakes—and explains what President Biden needs to do to come out on top. "There is a way for him to win it, and decisively, but he will have to override his instincts, defy the constraints and conventions of presidential debates and tell a more compelling story — with clarity and force — about America’s future if Mr. Trump returns to power."
