  • This webinar will present a case study of an odor abatement project for which equity issues came into play. Some key philosophical and policy questions will be addressed – Does it matter who was there first? Should ratepayer money be spent on odor abatement improvements that may only provide a benefit to a limited number of people? Tools for evaluating neighborhood demographics, including income levels, health statistics, ethnicity, education levels, and other key indicators will be explored, and ways to use the available data for community engagement will be discussed.   • This webinar will lean on industry experts to provide critical information regarding the nuances and intricacies of planning and executing the sampling, storage, and analysis of PFAS in wastewater both in liquid and solid matrices. This is a joint WEAT seminar, organized as a collaboration between the Biosolids Committee, the Pretreatment Committee, and the Laboratory Committee. The purpose of the event is to inform consultants, utilities, and other stakeholders on the important details regarding the sampling and analysis of this emerging contaminant.   • As federally designated critical infrastructure facilities, it is important for water and wastewater utilities to guard against potential disruptions caused by both natural disasters and human conduct. With increasing cyber-attacks and severe storms that have ravaged Texas in recent years, the WEAT Safety, Cyber, and Infrastructure Security Committee has produced the Operational Preparedness Symposium intended to provide a venue for knowledge sharing between utilities across Texas as well as local, state, and federal government agencies.

  • The 2024 WEAT Laboratory Workshop is designed to cover a broad range of topics pertinent to laboratory staff as well as wastewater treatment operators. The day-and-a-half event will provide attendees with information on various contemporary laboratory topics. There will be opportunities to network and collaborate with other laboratory analysts and operators on various issues affecting data quality. The workshop will feature vendor booths allowing participants to discuss some of the new innovative technologies in use for testing wastewater.
