We’re thrilled to share Senior Practice Development Leader Ricky Ward, PE recently began his two-year term as the inaugural President of American Council of Engineering Companies of South Carolina’s Infrastructure Works Institute (ACEC-SC IWI).   In this role, Ricky will support the institute’s goals to support a civic and legislative environment for sustainable and increasing investment in South Carolina’s infrastructure.   The creation of the ACEC-SC IWI has been several years in the making while Ricky served on ACEC-SC’s Board of Directors and as Chair of the Communications Committee. It’s mission is to direct its resources to conduct research that informs stakeholders of the state’s infrastructure status and economic impact, to invest in tomorrow’s engineers, and to advance the business of engineering in South Carolina.   Congratulations Ricky on this leadership position! We know you and the ACEC-SC IWI will accomplish incredible things!   #WeAreRKK

We are proud to share that Senior Project Delivery Leader Kate Russo, PE, PTOE was recently elected by the Mid-Colonial District ITE to serve on the International Board of Directors.    Kate has been actively involved in ITE for over 20 years, starting at the local section level and then at the regional district level. Most recently she has served on the D&I Committee and the One ITE Committee at the International level. About this recent election, Kate said, “ITE has been an integral part of my career. I’m thrilled to be elected to ITE’s International Board of Directors and look forward to continuing to serve our District.”   Congratulations, Kate, we are so proud of this accomplishment! ITE (Institute of Transportation Engineers) is an international membership association of transportation professionals who work to improve mobility and safety for all transportation system users and help build smart and livable communities. RK&K summer intern and University of South Florida student Lou Obateru is working with our Natural Resources team, helping to write up technical memorandums for permits needed by the Florida Department of Transportation, creating maps of local keystone animal habitats, and spending time in the field as a surveyor of endangered species populations. He shares how this hands-on work enhances his education and sets him up for success in his future environmental career! #WeAreRKK

We love these photos from Baltimore City DPW of Construction Manager Brent A. Wolfe, P.E.,CCM leading a group of STEMcx students on a tour of the Druid Hill Lake and Ashburton/Hanlon Park Tank project sites. The students learned about RK&K’s role constructing new concrete finished water storage tanks and other improvements to restore these crucial facilities, along with seeing the STEM skills they’re learning applied to real-world work! #WeAreRKK

Last night, the CMAA National Capital Chapter honored the DC Water Clean Rivers Rock Creek B Green Infrastructure Project with their "Best Infrastructure Project of 2023 - Less than $25 Million Category” award.   RK&K served as Construction Manager on this project, which focused on the construction of green infrastructure to reduce the volume of combined sewer overflow and flooding in the District of Columbia. Congratulations and great job to all our team members who contributed to this important work! #RKKProud #WeAreRKK

Interns in action! RK&K summer interns Gurvansh Singh and Patrick Droney recently assisted with our Baltimore team’s inspection of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge. “I feel like most engineering interns aren't getting this kind of hands-on experience with bridges of this size, so I enjoyed every minute of it and am trying to absorb as much knowledge as I can,” said Patrick.   Great job, you two! #WeAreRKK
