It's hard to believe our 2024 internship program has come to an end! Meet Marc Leonetti, a rising senior at University of Rhode Island majoring in Ocean Engineering. This summer he interned as a Customer Energy Integration Intern with the goal of gaining a better understanding of interdepartmental relations, insight into financial implications of large system modifications, and taking a deeper dive into a specific DG technology.

We are a proud sponsor of Back to School of Rhode Island, a 100% volunteer lead organization celebrating their 25th anniversary providing school supplies to local kids and families. This year they hope to distribute 16,000 backpacks to students across the state on August 24th. This past weekend, a team of over 200 volunteers, including team members from Rhode Island Energy, came together to stuff school supplies into the backpacks and organize them for distribution. RIE Intern Spotlight! Meet Hunter Hanks, a rising senior at Massachusetts Maritime Academy majoring in Facilities Engineering and interning as a Gas Construction Supervisor this summer. He says working at RIE has provided invaluable hands-on experience in gas pipeline installation, maintenance, and safety protocols. He looks forward to applying these skills to drive innovation and efficiency in the energy sector, contributing to sustainable solutions and reliable infrastructure.
