In May this year Nujuma, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, opened its doors to guests – offering a rare and fully immersive escape to discover Saudi Arabian culture and the untapped wonders of The Red Sea destination. Wimberly Interiors was delighted to be a part of this project, appointed by Red Sea Global and The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C. to design all guestrooms and villas, in addition to a spa component, responding to the architectural design and the client’s aspiration for ‘bare-foot luxury’. A key aspect of this design was the approach to the complex geometry of the architecture. The curvature of the shell-inspired roof required close collaboration by all members of the team, allowing optimisation of the different shell dimensions while maintaining the purity of the interior. Each villa also features references to the local landscape and culture, with tactile natural materials such as stone, carved timber and burnished metalwork – in addition to local-inspired textiles, handwoven rugs inspired by Bedouin patterns; a bed bench that references antique camel saddles and the subtle artwork inspired on the desert night skyscape. Pillow Talk - From cutting edge technological advancements to ingenious solutions for compact spaces, Hotel SPACE magazine asks the leading industry designers how to craft the perfect guestroom experience. Wimberly Interiors Creative Director, John Paul Pederson, and Senior Designer, German Mendoza delve into the integration of cutting-edge technology in guestroom design. They explore how technology is increasingly valued by hoteliers, pinpointing its significant impact on enhancing the guest experience. “For us, providing the guest with all the technology they need in order to make their stay as hassle-free as possible is paramount, but the actual challenge and the real sense of luxury comes when all these facilities are seamlessly integrated into the design and hardly perceived by the end user.” – German Mendoza “Guestroom management systems today – such as keypads, lighting controls etc. – seem to be getting less complicated and more user-friendly…More recently, where we see technology weighing in more is on shower and WC experiences. Smart showers are now connecting wirelessly to mobile apps for enhanced control and monitoring, with faucet taps at the vanity with a built-in coffee dispenser.” – John Paul Pederson Read Space July/August 2024 issue here (p130) - https://hubs.ly/Q02GJfX30 #Hospitality #Hotels #Hoteldesign #guestrooms #suites #guestroomdesign #technology #hoteltech #tech #interiors #interiordesign
