🎬✨ Since its inception, the Amman International Film Festival has grown significantly, rapidly gaining a stellar reputation among filmmakers and cinephiles alike. It has been an absolute joy to witness and contribute to the 5th edition of this dynamic and inspiring event. In my role as a programmer, I was thrilled to watch so many incredible films and witness amazing talents on display. I also had the privilege of moderating sessions, most notably a masterclass with Watermelon Pictures on “Decolonizing the Narrative.” This insightful discussion reflected the festival’s theme "Ihkeeli" (tell me), which underscores the power of storytelling and resonates deeply with the ongoing need for impactful narratives that challenge, inspire, and connect audiences in the Global South. Here’s to many more years of celebrating exceptional cinema and storytelling! 🎥🌟

This is our story. Like so many immigrants and refugees, one generation sacrificed everything so that we could be here today. Ours is a Palestinian story, but it is also an immigrant story of the countless families who have had to blend in, assimilate, excel, wear our hair different, lose our accents…  A story of all the kids who ask their Moms not to send them to school with biryani or kimchee or adobo because they’ll get made fun of by their peers, and all the parents who have had to toe the line between holding on to culture for dear life, but letting just enough go as to not hinder their child’s shot at the American dream. We hope you see yourselves, not just on screen, but in us. In our company. In the filmmakers we work with. In the stories we choose to tell... Because this isn’t just our story.
