Washmen will donate to Gaza
5% of Washmen’s sales for October will be donated to the Gaza relief efforts through licensed charities in the UAE.
I am reaching out to you today with a heavy heart, as I reflect upon the ongoing situation in Palestine. It is heartbreaking to witness the dehumanization and loss of innocent lives in these challenging times. The individuals in Gaza are enduring unimaginable hardships and require our collective support. It's staggering to think half the population (1.1m people) are confronting the possibility of further displacement from refugee camps where they've been refuging in for the past 75 years.
Many of you may not know, but I am a Palestinian by lineage. My grandfather, born in Jerusalem in 1922, belonged to a family with deep Palestinian roots. After his passing in 1964, my father lived in an orphanage in Jerusalem until the break out of the 1967 war. The subsequent years saw my young father seeking refuge in Jordan's Al Wehdat camp, where he found a home with 10 of his cousins at his aunt’s residence. It wasn't the life any child would dream of.
The trauma still did not break this child. He wasn’t extraordinary, just a regular man with dreams. With unwavering focus on education, he ventured to the UK and the US for college and university after turning 18. His determination stemmed from a desire to provide his children with opportunities he never had. He believed in the transformative power of education. Thanks to his sacrifices, within a single generation, he succeeded in nurturing three thriving children. I am testament to his belief that when individuals are accorded dignity and basic human rights, they can thrive to be valuable citizens of this world. Despite the trauma, the resilience of the human spirit shines through, allowing us to heal and move forward.
My father instilled in us a profound appreciation for our Palestinian heritage. As a family, we dream of a world where Palestinians and Israelis don’t merely coexist, but thrive together. We envision a future where opportunities are equitably provided to all, fostering a flourishing generation.

Washmen’s Commitment:
This October, we've witnessed unprecedented sales. While it's a time of celebration for our company, we recognize our responsibility to give back. As such, we've committed to donate 5% of our sales, which we anticipate will constitute nearly 30% of our profits for the month. Rest assured, this contribution will solely be given to licensed charities in the UAE dedicated to the Gaza relief efforts. In November, we'll announce the charity that received our donation.
If you're inspired to make a personal contribution within the UAE, the Emirates Red Crescent offers a seamless way (Apple pay accepted) to do so. Please visit: https://www.emiratesrc.ae/
