About us

Wabash General Hospital is a not-for-profit district hospital. It is overseen by a nine member board of directors who are appointed by the county commissioners. Wabash General is a Critical Access Hospital with a 25 bed capacity. The hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. It has been managed by Alliant Management Services since 1987 and has been open since 1951. The sole purpose of Wabash General Hospital is to provide high quality, cost effective health care in Wabash and surrounding counties, and promote the general health of its residents.

  • We are proud to announce that WGH has been awarded the Rural Health Network Development Grant to help with the Addressing Gaps in Comprehensive Care (AGCC) Project. The AGCC Project is overseen by the Comprehensive Rural Health Care Network of Southern Illinois (CRHCNSI). CRHCNSI is composed of Wabash General Hospital, Wabash General Hospital EMS, Wabash General Hospital Rural Health Clinics, Wabash Community Health Center, Wabash County Health Department, and Comprehensive Dental Care of Mt. Carmel. The CRHCNSI will address the critical needs through the Addressing Gaps in Comprehensive Care Project, which is a lack of access to comprehensive chronic care management for adults that includes, oral health care and primary/preventative care.   • Wabash General Hospital has become the new site of the Southeast Area Health Education Center, which was previously located in Fairfield, Illinois. Part of a statewide network of Illinois Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) Program, the Southeast AHEC has programs focusing on giving young people a head start toward a health profession and assisting working healthcare professionals in advancing their careers.
